TWO DAYS AGO
On the other side of an old dark Oak door, a knock is heard.
"Yeah, what is it?" The man sitting in the chair behind an old desk asks.
The door creeks open and in walks a man holding a phone in his one hand with a bright crimson cover.
"What did I say about bringing phones in here?" The man in the chair complains.
"I know. Sorry Boss." The man with the phone says.
"What is it?" The man seated asks.
The man standing then hands the phone over to the one in the chair, getting his reaction. He drops whatever is in his hand, grasping the phone with both as he admires what he sees on it. He than clears his throat as the man standing waits patiently.
"Thank you. You can get it later." The seated man says.
And with that, the man standing nods, understanding before he leaves the room.
TO THE PRESENT
I walk, threading behind everyone while gazing out of the large glass on my left. I then stop in my tracks, believing to have noticed something.
"What...?" I whisper, turning completely to get a better look.
Amongst all of the many flashing lights of the city from here, one in particular stands out as it shines the brightest. Not only that but it beeps, going on and off, as if someone where signaling someone else.
What is this feeling?
No... That's insane. Even if...
I watch this happen a few more times.
If it truly were manually operated, then why is it remaining still? Surely, if...someone where doing that...they should move it all about.
I stand so close to the window that my breath causes it to fog up. I move my eyes away from the blurry glass not losing the spot amongst the crowd of lights where I spotted the beeping one but...nothing.
Just as I thought-
My eyes grow wider against my will and I hear myself gasping slightly. My heart races as the light appears to fall down from it's stable place.
"What the...f*ck?" I whisper, keeping my eyes on the, now, dark area as the light doesn't shine again.
I gasp, spotting the same light shoot up and swing wildly about, as if it were wielded by someone.
"Ugh... Herah... Let's go." I hear but ignore it, waiting for the light to go off once more.
I hear the person that called me approaching, feeling a raising feeling of warmth in my gut as the light matches it. The feeling shuts down almost simultaneously as the person grabs my shoulder and tears me away from the glass.
"Ha. What...? You think you're special or something?" They ask, as I fail to hear them properly or even see them.
Jah?
