AFTER THE TRIAL was over, you along with Mk and Wukong were taken to cell to be imprisoned for your- qoute unqoute- "crimes". This was ridiculous, you didn't do anything wrong and you were being dragged into this mess.
So truly unfair.
Anyway, you leaned against the wall with your arms crossed, watching Mk trying to remove the circlet from Wukong's head, "Didn't Mr. Tang's past life guy put one of these dealies on you originally?" Mk asked, breaking the heavy silence in the cell. Wukong sighed and pulled on the circlet a bit, "This one's somehow tighter. I really, really didn't wanna wear one of these again." He replied then turned to look at you with a scoff, "Classic, I get all the punishment and you get to mope!" Monkey King added, being envious that you always get off the hook every time he got punished.
You rolled your eyes in annoyance, "Maybe going to jail wasn't on my agenda for tonight." You sarcastically told him, averting your gaze away.
"Oh, so you think this is my idea of a good time, trapped in here with you?"
There was a moment of an awkward silence between you two while Mk stood there, not knowing what to say or do. Thus, he returned to try and remove the circlet, "Wow, that is... that is really on there. I nearly got it..." He stated and summoned his staff to get the crown off, but it just slammed him against the wall, "I don't have it." He said and fell down on the ground, giving up on removing the circlet.
Just then, a gate opened on the wall right next to Mk, revealing Ne Zha. Mk quickly stood up with his eyes sparkling, "Ne Zha! You're busting us out? Ah, amazing. It's, uh... it's tense in here." The boy stated nervously, referring to the gloomy atmosphere you and Wukong created. The Lotus Prince sighed deeply, "This is... not what I wanted." He spoke up with a hint of guilt, averting his gaze away.
"Weren't you meant to be busy guarding the Jade Emperor's power? Don't tell me Daddy Jing took over that job too. You got demoted!" Monkey King mocked Ne Zha.
"Just stop!" Ne Zha unlocked the gate and stepped in. Wukong used this opportunity and blew out three hair locks outside before the gate would close. Monkey King gave you a glance and you nodded your head, "Someone's trying to destroy the Pillar of Heaven. And my father—" Before Ne Zha could finish his sentence, Mk cut him off with a question.
"Sorry if I'm jumping in here, but what's the Pillar of Heaven, exactly?"
"If the old legends can be believed, the pillar is a mystic energy that holds back the Primordial Chaos."
"It's what lets the world be... the world." Wukong tried to give a simple explanation to Mk. The boy nodded in understanding and sat beside Wukong, "Mmm. Yes, good. Now, do it like Tang." He requested with twinkling eyes, making Wukong sweatdrop.
"For real?"
"Helps me learn!"
The Monkey King sighed deeply and didn't argue, pulling out a pair of glasses out of nowhere, "Legend tells that the universe was born into chaos. Long ago a sanctuary was constructed, this world, protected from the chaos by the Pillar of Heaven." As Wukong began to explain, Mk joined in while you and Ne Zha watched the interaction between them.
"And someone's trying to break it!"
"Not for the first time."
As the monkey replied normally, Mk reminded him to keep imitating Tang. Wukong groaned and resumed his explanation, "It was broken, once before. Chaos poured into the realm, until the goddess Nuwa mended the pillar with the mystical five colored stones."
"Sounds like someone needs to get those stones and get to mending." Mk pointed out with excitement. Now that he understood what was actually happening, he could set a plan to collect the stones and fix the pillar like Nuwa, "The kid's right, which begs the question of why you're here, instead of out there working on a rock collection." You stated with a raised eyebrow, directing your speech to Ne Zha.
Ne Zha averted his gaze away from you, "My father—" Again, he didn't finish because Mk cut him off.
"Doesn't want anyone looking for 'em! Interesting, suspicious..."
"Yes, what? Wha... What's he doing?"
You sighed deeply and mentally facepalmed, "Ignore it. It's his lawyer bit." You told Ne Zha who was confused whilst Wukong nodded happily. You and Monkey King shared a deadpanned look as Mk put on the lawyer suit again, "Best attorney monkeys can buy. Hmm... if I was a secret enemy trying to break a magic pillar, I— objection!.. — to people looking for the magic rocks that can fix it as well." Mk exclaimed as if he had discovered the entire truth behind Li Jing's doings. Ne Zha frowned in disapproval, "My father is not the enemy." The prince protested firmly.
"I mean, he put us in a cell, and a pain cap on Monkey King's head. You know, it's not... it's not best friend behavior!"
"This was a mistake."
"Yeah, super was."
Ne Zha froze and whipped around swiftly when he heard Wukong's voice behind him, seeing your clones outside, "What? No!"
"Haha, you always fall for the clone bit!" Wukong's clone mocked him.
"And now you're stuck inside! And the real us'es are out here." The clone of Mk added, making Ne Zha looked back at you. The three of you immediately started to pretend to be clones, "I'm a clone." You three said monotonously in unison. Without thinking, Ne Zha dashed outside with his spear, leaving the gate open. You, Mk and Wukong slowly sneaked out without getting exposed.
However, the clones were destroyed and Ne Zha discovered the truth. When he turned around, he saw you three just outside the cell with Mk giggling anxiously, "Someone's trying to destroy the world. I'm not going to let anyone stop us from saving it." Wukong spoke up, reaching to pluck some of his hair and Mk followed him.
"Here comes Jailbreak Kid/King!"
A bunch of clones piled on Ne Zha, giving you three the chance to run away. As you three run, you could hear Ne Zha calling Wukong, but none of you cared. Right now, the main task was to get the stones and fix the pillar.
