- Chapter 39 - A Close Call... -

You can't move nor can you see anything. Just a simple black void. It's almost painful as you want to see something, but you can't open your eyes. The last thing you heard was Olivia's sobs as you fell completely out of consciousness. Then... You start hearing something.

Beep

"Ach... What the... What's with that sound..."

Beep

It goes again. You start to regain a little bit of your senses. Your hands feel the soft clothing of what seems to be a bed, and you also notice that your clothes are different. "Am I in a hospital?" Then unexpectedly, your chest suddenly starts having an insane amount of pain, a pain that seems too unbearable. You open your eyes to see the blinding lights of the hospital bed, jolting the bed a little from how it caught you off guard.

"You're awake dude! Phew... What a relief!" A familiar voice echoed to your head. "H-hey... Uno? That you, my boy?" You look over to see your friends sitting down on the other bed near the window. "Oh, yeah... Uno, Sherwin, Satoshi... O-Olivia." The latter comes up running to you and hugs you tightly. "Don't scare me like that again, you idiot!" Olivia was hugging you too tightly. "Y-yamero! Y-you're gonna suffocate me-" She stops and decides to just cuddle you softly instead, while a concerning amount of blood goes up the tube to the dextrose. "Jeez Olly, did you really have to almost kill him at the time he just 'returned to life'?" Sherwin says in a relieved tone. "Not really I guess... I'm just glad he's alive." "I feel a lot of pain." Lance says in an exhausted tone.

The door creaks open. The doctor and 2 nurses enter the room. "Ah... I see you've regained your consciousness. Your missy here was bawling like a woman being eaten up by Godzilla when the ambulance arrived." Lance looks at Olivia with a distraught face before he simply accepts it and closes his eyes. "So doc... What's the news?" Uno asks the doctor. "Well, Lance here is lucky that he didn't stab himself in the heart. A little more centimeters and he was surely gonna stab himself to death. Although he did crack his ribcage by a tad bit. Although all that's been taken care of already. So you might get yourself released in a few days if you're a strong man, to which at your age, you will." "Yes doc, I'm a strong boy." You decide to pat your chest with your left hand. With the outcome being an unbearable pain. "Youchie! Oh man that hurts...!" The doctor slaps his face and starts doubting if you'll make it out of the hospital. "But how about the bad guy who was with Lance?" Olivia asked. "Oh, we haven't heard of his arrest yet, but I think he was caught." Olivia nodded before the doctor left. One of the nurses fixed the blood coming up your dextrose before leaving the room as well.

Lance takes a deep breath before he slides down his bed. "I'm surprised I didn't stab my lungs! I'd be a deadman if I did." "Yeah, but why'd you stab yourself anyway?" Sherwin asked. "I... I dunno to be honest. My memory fell short after he bumped me... Speaking of bumping, what happened to my car?" "We drove it here at the hospital. Want me to drive it back to your house?" Sherwin convinces Lance. "Sure, just don't do anything ridiculous to it." Sherwin takes on an evil laugh. Lance, being concerned about this, he reconsiders. "Yeah... Nevermind." "Want me to bring it to my garage instead? I can work on the marks." Uno asks this time around. "Yeah, that'd be better." "So Olly, you gonna stay here to watch over Lance?" Sherwin asks Olivia. "Yep, we're gonna get real nice and cozy~"

"Bru-" Before Satoshi and Sherwin lost their minds, Uno shoved them out of the room. "Have fun in there!" Uno yells out before slamming the door.

Slam

"Well, we are alone now." Lance settles back on his bed and turns on the TV on the other side of the room. The TV turned on, and surprisingly, it was on the news channel.
