The Unknown Fleet - Chapter 20

- Chapter 20 - 7000 vs 9000! Part Three -

...

Well... We'll not talk about what happened with Uno and Isabelle, either that they actually did it whilst Lance and Sherwin were eating lunch. Uno and Isabelle chilled for a little while before they got back outside to go for a drive.

Uno: "Let's go for a drive."

Isabelle: "Sure, my sweety."

Uno and Isabelle went outside to ride the R32... And headed off somewhere. Meanwhile, Lance and Sherwin took their own way and relaxed for the remainder of the day.

Lance: "(So I'm supposed to do 'that' kind of driving huh...)"

Lance took a walk to Kannami-park, just thinking of what he could probably do. Then he got thirsty.

Lance: "Damn I'm parched, is there any water here?"

Lance sees an ice-cream stand, he walks to it and gets ice-cream. Somewhat an unexpected turn for tense thoughts.

Vendor: "Oh! Good afternoon good sir! What would you like here?"

Lance: "I'd get the Vanilla and Choco mix."

Vendor: "Okay! That'll be 132 yen!"

Lance noticed that the ice cream is very expensive, but he's parched. So he got it anyway.

Vendor: "Thank you good sir! Come again!"

Lance: "Will do."

Lance heads off while ice cream in his hand.

Lance: "Mmm... This is actually really nice!"

Alright, since when was Japan's ice cream the topic of this chapter!? Eventually, Lance returns home, and he feels relaxed... Completely forgetting the tense sensation he had earlier.

Lance: "Am I forgetting something? No, I'm imagining things."

Lance felt sleepy because of how hot the day was. So he slept at around 3:30 PM. Hey Lance! Don't forget the race!!

Cuts a few hours later

Lance: yawns

Lance was very sleepy in fact, he slept for 6 damn hours. The race begins at 10 PM, but right now, it's already 9:06 when he checks the time.

Lance: "Erm... 9 PM... Wait. 9??"

Cuts to Uno and Isabelle's drive

Isabelle: "We're going to 'that' mountain again aren't we?"

Uno: "I mean, where would Lance's race be?"

Isabelle: "Well... I thought it would be on the highways."

Uno: "Well yeah, he also can do Shutoku races, but he's a mountain man."

Isabelle: "I see..."

We would then cut to Sherwin's apartment where he was waiting for Lance to pick him up.

Sherwin: "I wonder where that Lance is..."

13B noises come out of nowhere

Sherwin: "Nevermind, there he is!"

Lance's FC surely was a monstrous sounding one, but it's semi-stock... So how's it making that sound? The FC then stops in front of the apartment, Lance rolls down his window.

Lance: "Yep, 'she' is running."

Sherwin: "You sure that's stock? Sounds tuned."

Lance: "My Father tuned this a lot back then, so maybe that's why it makes a monstrous sound."

Sherwin: "Alright, let's go!"

He hops on Lance's car and both of them head to Skyline.

Cuts to Izu Skyline

The mountain is filled with a lot of people, but way more than before. Among them is Uno and Isabelle.

Uno: "Shit. He's not here yet."

Isabelle: "Maybe he's still at home?"

Uno: "I doubt that. He can take shortcuts."

Spectator 3: "The FC ain't here yet!"

Spectator 5: "Maybe he really was just a poser."

Green Racing member: "Kohta, what will you do?"

Because of how late Lance was, they thought he was just kidding with the race. Time is ticking Lance! Hurry!

Kohta: "Let's delay a few minutes, in the meanwhile, let's do runs."

As Kohta said, they will run to cut time. His Starion leads along with a line up of S13s, 180sx's and other cars.

Spectator 8: "Go Kohta!!"

Spectator 7: "That's epic."

The Starion goes in the 1st corner, and does an extremely smooth cornering. The other cars can't match the smoothness of Kohta's.

Isabelle: "Look at that! They're in formation!"

Uno: "Looks like they will do a run!"

Isabelle: "Maybe they're tired of waiting for Lance?"

Uno: "No, not yet. But he's coming, really quick!"

Cuts to Lance and Sherwin in the FC

The FC does a very rough entrance and slide across a corner

Sherwin: "Chill Lance! Smoothen out your drift!"

Lance: "I'm just rushing here! Expect me to be rough!"

The car slides out of the corner and goes into a straightaway

Sherwin: "If you can't smoothen your drift, how can you catch up?"

Lance: "That's my question..."

Lance is resilient, yes. But his problem is controlling his FC. Because of the unexpected power that kicks in when slamming the gas, making the wheels slide.

Sherwin: "Don't step on it too much. You might spin out, alright?"

Lance: "Yeah, yeah. I got it."

Lance goes into a normal drive from there on, but still going a bit faster than the laws. Meanwhile, Kohta and his team went for half of Izu's length and returned back to the meeting place.

Kohta: "He's still not here?"

Green Racing member: "Yeah... Maybe he really is just a poser."

Green Racing member: "But why does his FC have that license plate? There's no way another FC can have the same number pla-"

Radio: "We've got Kraken on sight! He's passed by one of the Tashiro Castles!"

Green Racing member: "H-he's here."

Spectator 11: "He is the real one after all!"

Kohta smiles at the information, his curiosity becomes even more higher when his prey has taken the challenge seriously.

Kohta: "Lead him in, pronto!"

Green Racing member: "Yes!"

Lance' FC enters an uphill in another pass, and Lance feels the new atmosphere. He takes a left for Izu... And there, he sees the many cars parked alongside the road.

Sherwin: "Damn, what have you gotten yourself into?"

Lance: "Something out of my Father's possession."

Spectator 5: "There he is!"

Green Racing member: "Here! Park over here!"

Uno: "He's fuckin' here!"

Isabelle: "Yes! This will surely be a sight and a half!"

Kohta: "(We meet again... Kraken's FC.)"
