"I got angry, father. I almost hurt my wife. I hit your desk," Darkkon lied.

"The fuck? Son? You don't hurt your wife! What did your mother teach you when you were young?"

"Don't hurt women."

"Kapag nalaman kong sinasaktan mo ang asawa mo, Darkkon. . ." The man sighed in frustration. "I will whip you. I don't have a son that hurts women."

Malinaw kong naririnig ang kanilang pag-uusap kahit na mababa ang tono ng boses nila. Ingat na ingat sila sa pagsasalita dahil nga sa inaakala nilang natutulog ako at ayaw nilang magising ako.

"What about Diablos?" Darkkon asked.

"What about him?"

"He whipped Aoife."

Diablos? He whipped the woman he loves? Ang hirap paniwalaan. Aine told me that Aoife was a great Senior Special Agent. Hindi s'ya basta-bastang mapapatumba.

"He did? When?" Gano'n din ang ama ni Darkkon. Hindi ito makapaniwala.

"Yeah, but he have no idea that he's hurting his girl that time. Aoife's head was covered and she was dressed differently," Darkkon explained formally.

I heard his father chuckled. "He punished himself in the dungeon."

Dahil sa pagod ay hindi ko na tinapos ang pakikinig sa kanilang pinag-uusapan. Nakatulog ako nang mahimbing. Sleeping could help me not to feel the pain in my legs.

Ang dami ko ring pinoproblema na pansamantala kong nakakalimutan sa tuwing natutulog ako.

Pagkagising ko ay wala na si Darkkon at ang kaniyang ama sa kuwarto. Tatanungin ko man o hindi ay alam ko na agad na sa kaniya itong kuwarto dahil ang mga kulay ng kagamitan, pader, kisame, kahit 'yong sahig ay iba't ibang shade ng black.

May nakahandang mga pagkain sa bedside table at gamot. Kahit sa pag-upo ay nahihirapan ako kaya mas pinili ko ang manatiling nakahiga sa kama.

I was overthinking what should I report to my father if Darkkon really got me pregnant? I was staring blankly at the wall with a horror look on my face after imagining the possible things that my Daddy would do to me. Paano kung ipapalaglag n'ya ang sanggol na dinadala ko?

My deep thoughts we're interrupted when someone opened the door in a sneaky manner. Tila ba takot itong makagawa ng ingay.

"Sorry, I didn't knock. I thought you're still sleeping. . ." It was Dr. Yvanita. Nakadungaw ito sa may pinto bago tuluyang pumasok. "Hi, Eithne. How are you feeling? I'm Yvanita Montalvo. Sartori's family doctor."

"Aine told me about you. . . salamat pala sa tulong," I showed her a weak smile.

"Darkkon told me about you, and I know the Sartori brothers. They're like my own brothers. Especially, Darkkon. He's the worst, I know you need help the moment he told me that he's obsessed with you. He has this psycho side I can't explain." Nagkibit balikat ito matapos isara ang pinto at lumapit sa kinaroroonan ko.

"Can you tell me more about Darkkon Sartori? I just want to make sure that I'm in the arms of a good person," I asked although I know that Darkkon is a good man to me.

"He's bad but good. I mean he can be bad, and he can be good. He's doing bad things for good purposes, Eithne. . . if you want to escape, I can help you—"

"N-No, I'm not planning on escaping. I want to stay, that's why I'm asking if it's safe to be with him. He won't hurt me, right?"

Dr. Yvanita is a nice woman, but I need to keep pretending that I don't know much about Darkkon. Walang dapat makakaalam na may koneksiyon sa tatay ko ang pagpunta ko rito. I'm grateful that she helped me, but. . . sometimes we have to keep some things.
