The 31st finally came. Thursday, Halloween. It was also a half-day, AND we didn't have school the next day either. Everything seemed to be perfectly working out. My morning classes went by fast as usual. Until finally I found myself in Chemistry. I told Michael about all of the new developments that'd happened since I last saw him, and how now I was even more sure I was the second girl Emil liked. Michael said he believed me but warned me not to get my hopes up too much. I just shrugged; I was really too excited to care about Michael's opinion on who Emil liked anymore. Not to mention I was pretty confident in my own intuition. After that, Michael yapped to me about his situation with our other friend Mary. The whole situation had been simultaneously going on at the same time as all of my current Emil drama was unfolding. Now, Michael and Mary are both my best friends. They're also best friends with each other. We're all in a close friends group together, with all of my best friends who I've talked about in this story so far. (Alexa, Sophia, Leila, Allie, Chloe, and Ethan). Now it went as follows: Michael has had a huge crush on Mary for a while, and she's told him she just sees him as a friend. Michael tells me that chemistry class how he still very much likes her, which is a problem because we're all going to Mary's house later for Halloween. (Me, Michael, Mary of course, Alexa, and Leila who was joining us later). And Michael tells me he hopes something happens with Mary. I warn him not to get his hopes up too much. Although I have good reason to. But I'm still planning on being his wing-woman for the night. Class is ending, and I ask Michael,
"Hey, did you ever get anything out of Jose about who Emil likes?"
"Well...not exactly. I tried to talk to him, but he was like, zooted or something"
I laugh, "Okay then"
I brush it off, just figuring that Jose wouldn't tell Michael anything and that was that. But while Michael and I are walking to our busses together, we spot none other than Jose. We run to catch up with him and try asking him again.
"Hey, Jose!"
"...Suuupppp"
"You know Emil M right?"
"....Yahhh"
Okay, now I understood what Michael meant when he said Jose was "zooted". That kid either hadn't slept in upwards of 3 days or was on something.
"..Could you possibly find out who he likes and tell us?" We ask,
"....Yuhhh"
"...K great, thanks bud..."
And as Jose walked away, I turned to Michael and we both burst out laughing.
"Now you see what I mean??"
"YUP! He's definitely not going to remember this conversation happening."
"Oh, for sure."
Then it was time for Mary's Halloween party. It was honestly the most fun I've ever had on Halloween. Mostly because Michael was there, and we were all laughing our asses off the whole time. I decided to try one last time to see if Jose had any information on Emil, hoping if I texted him, he might be a little more comprehensive. He told me he didn't know anything but wished me good luck. Throughout the night me and Alexa were subtly making jokes about Michael and Mary. Mostly me, because I was the one who knew how much Michael liked her still. After trick-or-treating was over and Leila joined us, Michael had to leave. We all took a road trip to take him home and immediately upon getting back Mary had us sit on the floor for a tea circle. She then told us that she thought she might like Michael. We were all very excited to hear this, me especially obviously. And I knew as soon as I got home, I would be texting Michael the news. It was only fair after all he'd done for me. As the night continued, I found myself contemplating what to do about Emil. I still really wanted to know who he liked, but it seemed like I had exhausted all of my resources. Well, all except one...
