"And most days, I wish I stayed dead."

The room fell silent as the weight of Ziggy's words hung in the air. Josh's eyes widened in recognition. "Wait, you're Ziggy." He interjected, the realisation dawning on him like a dark cloud rolling in.

Ziggy's gaze remained distant; her thoughts lost in a past that refused to let her go. "Cindy and Ella. They sacrificed themselves for nothing." She continued, her voice trembling with grief. "I told everyone the story of how they died, the story I just told you. And no one believed me."

Reyes felt a pang in her chest, thinking of her aunt. She had been hunted by the witch, giving everything for the people she loved, yet her sacrifice meant nothing in the end. The thought of Simon meeting the same fate twisted her stomach into knots. How could she live with herself if she let that happen?

"And Nick?" Deena pressed; her brow furrowed with concern.

"I thought he was different." Ziggy sighed, the sorrow spilling from her like a river of regret. "I thought he would believe me. But Nick had a destiny in this town. You don't become sheriff talking about ghost stories. I couldn't face him again after that." Tears streamed down her cheeks; each drop a testament to her despair. "The witch, the town curse. For one night, Cindy believed there was a way to end it. Ella and I thought so too. But now I know the truth: there is no end."

Suddenly, a shrill alarm pierced the silence, causing everyone to jump. Reyes instinctively squeezed Kate's hand tighter, fear creeping into her heart as she anticipated what this night might bring.

Ziggy fumbled to turn off the alarm, the tension in the room thick enough to slice. "Like I said, your best chance is to run from this place. Go as far as you can, just hope a bus doesn't hit you on the way out."

"We found the body." Kate interjected, her voice steady but urgent, forcing Ziggy to meet her gaze. "It's off highway five in the woods between Shadyside and Sunnyvale."

Ziggy froze, her defenses rising. "It's not possible." She replied, disbelief colouring her tone.

"It's there." Reyes insisted, her heart racing as she recalled the horrific discovery. "Her bones and the chains. Even a stupid lock that has her name engraved on it."
