"As the mall's lead custodial engineer, I ensure that all retail establishments come equipped with the StoreSafe 250." Martin explained as they walked through the bustling mall, his hands gesturing to the various store gates around them. He was clearly in his element, and the group hung on to his every word, desperate to understand the layout of the mall in order to come up with a solid plan to take down Nick Goode. "This, my friends, is the Cadillac of store gates. It's top of the line. The 250 prevents your standard smash-and-grab, graffiti, and all while complying with the 70% visibility ordinance."
He stopped in front of a shiny, reinforced gate, running his hands over it like a proud father showing off a prized possession. "Best part." He added with a grin. He crouched down and smoothly opened the gate with a quick motion. "Easy to operate."
"Nice." Josh said, raising an eyebrow. "And we can rig these for a quick release?"
Martin gave a knowing smirk. "Little grease, these things go down faster than a Sunnyvale cheerleader." He winked at Ziggy, who rolled her eyes in response to the crude flirting. Malinda, standing next to her, nudged her friend and wiggled her eyebrows playfully. Ziggy couldn't help but chuckle despite herself.
"So, Deena and Reyes are the targets now. The killers will go after their blood just like they did with Sam." Josh explained, his tone serious as he scanned the rows of stores. "Then we use that to lure them into the stores, and we-"
Martin cut him off by slamming the gate down with a loud clang. "Welcome to the clink, motherfucker." He said with a grin, clearly enjoying the moment.
"The killers will be locked up." Josh added. "And then it's us versus Goode."
Kate, who had been quiet for most of the conversation, shrugged nonchalantly. "Alright, yeah, but then what? How do we actually kill Goode?"
Martin paused at this, glancing at the group with a skeptical look. "Are y'all serious about this?" He asked, not fully convinced that they were actually going through with this insane plan.
Ziggy took a deep breath, looking around at the various gates. "Once they're down, how quickly can we get them back open?" She asked, her gaze shifting back to Martin.
