Nova
I helped Aunt Wren clean the house for a dinner guest who no one apparently liked except Aunt Raven. How bad could Bob be?
While Aunt Wren took care of dinner, I heard the roar of bikes pulling up. I stepped onto the porch to see my dad and Harley had arrived. Wait. What is Harley doing here?
My dad and Harley climbed the steps to the porch. My dad gave me a massive bear hug and kissed the top of my head like he always does when he sees me. "How's my baby girl?"
"I'm fine," I said.
Dad released me and arched his brow.
I rolled my eyes. "Not that kind of fine. I really am fine." I glanced at Harley. "Did you need to bring a babysitter so you behave?"
Harley barked out a laugh.
My dad raised his brow at Harley, making him cover it with a cough. "No. Harley is here because I invited him."
I folded my arms and eyed my dad suspiciously before Harley entered the house.
"What the fuck?" Aunt Wren yelled from inside before she stormed out of the house and glared at Dad with her hands on her hips. "What the actual fuck are you doing, Hawk?"
My dad stepped closer to Aunt Wren. "It's a family dinner, Wren. Harley is family. Deal with it."
"Ooh, if you invited Harley to dinner, can I invite Ace?" I asked.
"No/yes," they said.
Ignoring my dad and aunt, I turned to Ace, perched on his bike. "Do you Want to come to family dinner?"
"What?" Ace asked with a cocked head.
"Family dinner. Do I need to speak slower for you to understand?"
Ace growled as my dad raised his brow at Ace, causing him to stop growling. Aunt Wren hugged and stormed into the house.
"Ignore my aunt." I waved off Aunt Wren's snit. "You look like you need a good meal."
"You heard my daughter," my dad said.
Ace sighed before climbing the steps to the porch.
Another motorcycle pulled up, with Kendall dropping his kickstand and dismounting it. He trudged up the steps and stopped when he saw my dad, Ace, and me standing on the porch. "What's going on?" he asked.
"Oh, Dad invited Harley to family dinner. So I invited Ace to break bread with us," I said.
"Is this a good idea?"
"Probably not, but who cares? If I have to suffer, so does everyone else."
My dad arched his brow before leading Ace inside and leaving Kendall and me alone on the porch. We heard Aunt Wren yelling at my dad and Ace inside the house.
"Wren doesn't seem happy," Kendall said.
"Aunt Wren needs to chill. She's not the only one who got stuck with a stupid mate."
Kendall raised his brow.
A few minutes later, a sedan parked in front of the house. Kendall and I watched as a guy dressed in a button-down shirt, khaki pants, and loafers got out and opened the passenger door. Aunt Raven stepped out and smiled at the guy before he closed the door. They walked toward the house and ascended the steps until they reached the porch.
"Hey, Nova," Aunt Raven greeted me before hugging me.
"Hey, Aunt Raven. This is my boyfriend, Kendall."
