Once Kendall finished cooking breakfast, we sat at the table and ate. I have to say, my mate can cook. At least I won't die of food poisoning. Kendall scowled at me while Aunt Wren snickered.

"What?" I asked.

"I won't give you food poisoning," Kendall said.

"Will you get out of my head?"

"No, I like bursting your thoughts." He shoveled scrambled eggs into his mouth.

"We need to teach you how to block your mate from hearing your thoughts," Aunt Wren said.

"That's a thing?"

She nodded.

"I thought that was only in books."

She shook her head. "That's how pack members communicate when they don't want others to hear them. Mates hear your thoughts and can feel your emotions once they mark you. Kendall might not hear your thoughts, but he'll still feel your emotions through the bond."

"Then, what's the sense of blocking him from my thoughts?"

"It gives you a little more privacy from intrusive thoughts."

"I have so much to learn about this life."

"You'll learn, but it'll take time."

While I ate breakfast, my dad cut in with a mindlink.

'I need you at my office.'

'I'm having breakfast with my mate.'

'Bring her, but get your ass to my office.' He cut the link before I could answer.

"What's with the sour look?" Nova asked me.

"My dad wants to see me in his office," I said.

"Why?"

"He wouldn't say." I shook my head. "But you're coming with me."

"I wanted to have a lazy day."

"You can have one later. You're coming with me to visit my dad."

"Oh, fine. I can hang out with my bestie for a few hours."

I lifted my brow because Nova has some weird fascination with my old man.

We finished breakfast and headed to the clubhouse. We entered and walked straight to my dad's office. I knocked on his open office door.

"Close the door behind you," my dad ordered.

Nova and I entered, and I closed the door before sitting across from him.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"I had Josey look into the situation with you and Cynthia. She slipped you heat enhancers when you met her," my dad said.

"Nova and I had an inkling Cynthia pulled some shit on me."

"That's not all."

"What else?"

"We had issues with witches getting access to the club, which caused problems with the brothers. Your uncle was one of them. Your mom also caught two of them holding you and Riley. Gen spoke to her dad about the situation. He suspected they put a curse on you and Riley."

"Why?"

"You're the next Alpha of the pack. If you can't take over the pack, it would fall to Riley."

"But Gianna also has alpha blood."
