Nova
I have a singular rule in life. You must love The Golden Girls or suffer unimaginable pain. How can you not love them? They lack a filter and are my idols, especially my girl, Sophia.
Now imagine four big bikers watching The Golden Girls and eating cheesecake. Our four episodes turned into a marathon. Aunt Wren couldn't yell at my dad while my girls were on. It was a rule. She could yell at him later.
"What is your fascination with senior citizens?" Blaze asked, shoving cheesecake into his mouth.
"Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia have dealt with life where most people crumble. How can you not like them?"
"Aren't you a bit young to like a show like this?"
"Bite your tongue!" I thrust a finger in his face. "How dare you question my love for my girls!"
Blaze stared at me with his mouth cracked.
"Uh, Nova, are you okay?" Aunt Wren asked, creeping towards me.
I lowered my hand and looked at Aunt Wren. "Yeah. Why?"
"Your eyes are glowing."
"What?"
My dad turned my head and pulled his brows together. "Your aunt is right. Your eyes are glowing."
"I want to see." I got up and ran over to a mirror hanging on the wall to see my eyes blazing. "This is so cool."
My dad got up and moved toward me. "It doesn't bother you?"
I turned to my dad. "No, should it?"
"Most wolves' eyes don't glow like yours."
"That makes me unique." I shrugged.
My dad squinted at me. Did he expect me to flip out? Pft that ship sailed when Kendall turned into a mutt, which caused me to go into killing zombies mode. I take no responsibility for my actions since no one told me the truth about werewolves. Then, you had our wolves fighting to the death. I could have taken Kendall's wolf if no one stopped me.
I returned to my spot on the couch and continued my Golden Girls marathon.
Eventually, my dad and Harley skated while Cress and Blaze headed to the clubhouse. Aunt Wren joined me on the couch and shared the cheesecake with me.
"Are you ever going to forgive Ace?" I asked curiously.
"It's hard to forgive someone when they blatantly cheat on you, knowing you're their mate. It's the worst pain to realize they think less of you."
"Are you sure Ace did it on purpose?"
"Are you condoning his actions?"
I shook my head. "No, but I realize not everything is as it seems here."
"It'll be a cold day in hell before I forgive Ace." Aunt Wren got up and headed upstairs.
I guess our conversation was futile since Aunt Wren refuses to forgive Ace. Oh, well. I have enough on my plate without adding other people's issues.
*******
I woke up in the middle of the night, roasting my ass off. Does Aunt Wren have the thermostat set to blazing? Christ. I'm dying here.
I climbed out of bed to find my clothes clinging to me like a second skin. I headed downstairs to check the thermostat and found it off. Great. My body was baking from the inside. I flung the freezer door open to cool off. It helped somewhat, but not enough. I couldn't get cool to save my life.
