I woke up and felt like hell. My head was throbbing, and my back was sore from the lashes I received. Lucky for me, someone was thoughtful enough to dim the lights.

"Nova," a rough voice said.

I squinted at Kendall and noticed he looked like hell. "Why do you look like shit?"

"I've been staying at the hospital with you for three days." He looked at me in annoyance.

"You could have left me to take care of myself."

"And deal with your and your dad's wrath. I don't think so."

"Fair point. Why do I feel like hell?"

"Larsen used a silver whip on you. The doctors had to give you something to remove the silver from your body. It's taking your wolf longer to heal you."

"Please tell me you killed that bastard."

Kendall nodded. "I did after I crushed every bone in his body."

"At least he suffered a bit before you ended his life." I tried to sit up and hissed.

Kendall helped me and placed a soft pillow behind my back.

"What did I miss while I was in la la land?"

Kendall sat in a chair beside my bed and rubbed the exhaustion from his face. "Our fathers found all the people working for Larsen and gathered them to finish the job. They kept a few to get answers from. Larsen wasn't only working with the witches but the vampires, too."

"Are they like mortal enemies?"

Kendall nodded.

"So, why work together?"

"They needed you for your abilities. Nova, you're a blessed wolf with extraordinary abilities. You're also powerful. Most packs don't witness a blessed wolf because they happen every hundred years."

"How did I get so lucky?"

"You were born on the moon solstice, which is Halloween. It's the day the moon goddess blesses mate unions so wolf packs can increase."

"I'm still learning so much about this life." I sighed.

"You'll learn."

"So what happens now?"

"Now, you recover and focus on your future."

"What?"

"When we graduate this spring, you're taking college courses like planned. I'll work with my dad to learn about the club and pack responsibilities."

"What about our mating ceremony?"

"Do you want to have it or wait? It's your choice."

"You would wait?"

"I already marked and mated you. The ceremony is a technicality."

"Then, I would like to wait." My stomach grumbled, telling me I needed food.

Kendall called the nurse and had her bring me food. Well, she got me clear liquids since I have been taking a siesta for three freaking days.

When they found out I was awake, my dad and Cress showed up with a bunch of other people. My dad hovered like a mother hen and growled at anyone who tried to get near me. I scolded him for growling at my mate. He needs to find a woman soon.

Hawk and I argued in Nova's hospital room until Nova yelled at him. My dad warned me not to laugh. Why would I laugh? I figured it was better Hawk than me. I didn't need my mate pissed at me with the shit we endured after we met.
