They say confession is good for the soul. In Kendall's case, his timing sucks like a powerful vacuum. Kendall could learn a few things from other guys, but I haven't met a good example yet.

We sat around the kitchen table and ate while Mac grilled me, as most adults do when someone brings their significant other home to meet the family. I answered all his questions honestly since I had nothing to hide, unlike my stupid mate.

"Why did you choose to come to Standwood, Nova?" Mac asked me.

"I wanted a break from my dad's debauchery," I said.

Everyone stared at me in disbelief.

"You're Hawk Pierce's daughter, aren't you?" He asked.

"The last time I checked," I said.

"I've met your dad."

"Okay. Not sure what you want me to add to that."

"You're much different from what I expected."

"That makes two of us. You're not surly like most bikers."

Mac raised his brow curiously.

"Plus, you have the club bitches who don't know their place."

Mac cocked his head to the side. "What do you mean?"

"The club bitches tried to take my hand, forgetting my dad is Hawk. They also forget their place."

"What did they do to you?"

"They didn't do anything to me. I won't let a skank put their hands on me. I broke one's nose. She's lucky I didn't rip her head off." I took a bite of my food.

"You're not a fan of motorcycle clubs?"

"I'm not a fan of people not learning their places. Plus, I have goals."

"Such as?"

"I want to earn a business degree before settling down with a family. There's no rule that says a woman can't be successful with a family."

Mac's lips twitched slightly. "No, I suppose there's not."

We continued to eat while Mac and I conversed at the table.

After dinner, Kendall dragged me from my chair upstairs until we reached a bedroom. We entered a spacious bedroom with a king-size bed, dressers, a desk, and a closet. Kendall closed the door while I checked out the room.

I opened the closet and stared at it in disbelief. "This closet is bigger than my room at Aunt Wren's house." I felt heat against my back.

"Mom wanted closet space. So Dad built her a bigger house."

I turned to find Kendall extremely close to me. "Your dad built your mom a bigger house because of closet space?"

"That, and we needed the space after she had Gianna."

"What happened to the other house?"

"Mom and Dad kept it until I found my mate. We can move into it once we mate and mark each other."

"Whoa, slow your roll there, buddy." I patted his hard chest. Damn, Kendall has muscles. Focus, Nova. "I still plan on attending college."

"Yeah, and?"

"And I'm not popping out kids until I get my degree." I held up my hand to him.

Kendall wrapped his hand around mine and cradled it against his chest. "Nova, you can still attend college since we are."
