Nova
After my little episode in the house, Kendall dragged me to the clubhouse. Gen examined me to ensure I wasn't losing my mind. I assure everyone I was quite sane.
We sat in a room around a table with only the key players present. We couldn't risk someone talking out of turn.
I recounted what I saw when I spaced out, watching my girls. Their expressions held deep concern since people had lost their lives.
Cress looked at Gen across the table. "What do you think?"
"It sounds like the moon goddess gave Nova a glance into the future." Gen sat forward, arms resting on the long, round table, and hands clasped. "It doesn't mean it will happen, though. But it's a possibility if we don't stop what's happening."
"It sounds like Nova has immense power," Aunt Wren said.
Gen nodded once. "That's why she's a blessed wolf. The moon goddess handpicked her wolf."
"How do you know so much about werewolves and the moon goddess?" I asked.
"I've spent years studying the supernatural world since I'm much older than you realize. I don't age like most people because of my ability to rise from the ashes."
"So, essentially, you stay the same age?"
"No." She shook her head. "I look young, but I can assure you I'm not."
"How old are you?"
"One hundred and fifty." She smirked.
We gawked at her.
"Supernaturals don't age like humans do. We retain our youth. It's disarming and dangerous for humans."
"So, what exactly do you do?"
"I'm a spiritual advisor on supernaturals since I contain a wealth of knowledge about them. I'm not the only one. Christian Monroe has also spent years studying supernaturals to gain a deeper understanding of them. We've crossed paths from time to time."
"I'll take your word for it."
"What do we do now?" Kendall asked his dad.
"We work to find the source of the illegal synthetic drugs coming into the clubs. Hawk and I are meeting with another pack to get more information. The only people who know anything are in this room. I want to keep it as close to the chest as possible," Cress said.
I glanced at the current mates, who were having problems since what was happening affected them. They would need to work out their shit soon before my vision comes to fruition.

With Nova's vision, it put us all on edge. We had someone messing with mate bonds, using other players to do it. I didn't like it. It left us unprotected and vulnerable.
It also didn't help that we didn't know the long-term effects these drugs had on our wolves. Luckily for me, I hadn't been taking them for long. Unluckily for Cynthia, she wouldn't breathe much longer. My wolf wanted blood for her little stunt.
We finished the meeting before leaving. Wren ignored Uncle Ace when they left the room. Raven snapped at Harley as they exited. Riley refused to acknowledge Ares. Gael avoided Gianna.
I pressed Nova to me and inhaled her scent to calm me and my wolf. She sighed because she didn't have a choice. We stood alone in the room after everyone had left.
"We need to figure out how to help the others," Nova said.
"You can't fix their problems, Nova. They need to fix them."
"I get that, but it's not right what happened. Kendall, people are messing with the mate bonds on purpose."
I rubbed my forehead before dropping my hand. "What do you suggest?"
"Figure out who's causing problems for the wolves since we know why."
"Okay. Let's say we discover who's behind it. Why would they go after you?"
"Why else? Power. There's a reason the moon goddess picked me of all people."
"Why?"
"Because I have a stubborn streak a mile long." She smirked.
I scoffed because it was true. Nova was definitely stubborn.
"Fine, but let them work out their shit first," I said.
Nova bounced in her spot and clapped. My mate was something else.

When I came to stay with Aunt Wren, I expected to get a break from the bike lifestyle. I never imagined werewolves existed. I thought they were only in books and movies. Silly me for assuming they weren't real.
Then, I find out Kendall is my mate. The same guy I couldn't stand when I met him. The moon goddess has jokes, like right now, when she dragged me from the comforts of my bed to have a chat in the middle of the forest.
I put my hands on my waist. "Is there a reason you dragged me from my warm bed?"
"You're quite mouthy, aren't you?" The moon goddess asked.
"My life hasn't been the easiest the past few months, you haven't noticed."
"Oh, I've noticed my child, but you're strong enough to handle it."
"What is your name, since you never told me?"
"Selene. I thought you would have figured it out by now." She tilted her head and smiled.
"Figure out what?" I pinched my brows in confusion.
"I didn't hand-pick you as you assume. I sent you here for a reason."
"What reason?" I shook my head in confusion.
Selene stepped closer to me until she stood in front of me. "The woman who carried you wasn't your mother. She was a vessel."
"If she wasn't my mother, then who is?"
Her lips curved slightly. "Me."
I stared at Selene as if she had lost her mind. Did this moon goddess say she's my mother? "Shut the front door! How?"
"I was your father's mate until another ended my life. You were always supposed to be born, but someone ripped that from us. So, I chose a vessel for you. The same person who took my life forfeited his mate. Eye for an eye if you will."
"Alpha Larsen."
She nodded. "He wanted me as a mate, but the moon goddess chose Hawk as my mate. We had only met before Larsen ended my life and almost cost your father's his life. You were his saving grace."
"Yeah, but it doesn't help that my dad didn't get another mate."
"Oh, she hasn't arrived yet, but she will." She winked before turning and walking away.
"What?" I ran after Selene to get the 411 on my dad's second chance mate.
And this, ladies and gents, is how my life turned into a hairy mess—literally. Not only did I not escape the Mac world, but I found out I'm a werewolf.
Did I mention the bad boy kept his promises?
Well, that was a nice little twist with werewolves and MCs. Then again, what else is new with me?
Nova didn't escape her dad's lifestyle. The bad boy kept his promises. Couples dealt with betrayals galore. There was groveling to be had. Yeah, just another day in this series.
Ares and Riley's book is following. I have plans for these two. And yes, Nova will be in the thick of things with Kendall.
See you in the next book.
