Dedicated to Guiding Light for not glowing during the final Seek chase and getting me killed at Door 199.

Spirit opened her eyes. Still in somewhat of a dream-like state, she looked around. She was confused; clearly, this wasn't the Hotel. No, rather, it was a sight she had long shoved deep into the farthest corners of her memories — grey, concrete walls stripped barren of life, and a singular lightbulb hung from the centre.

A dream! It had to be!

She tried moving her body, but something was restraining her. Looking down, Spirit noticed she was bound (rather tightly) by several sets of thick chains, pulsing light purple every time she attempted to move.

"Shadow, you motherfucker..." she mumbled to herself. Spirit tried switching to her light form, but, surprisingly, that failed.

Just then, the door to the room opened. Outside, a figure walked into the room, a smirk plastered on his face.

"4 and a half years," he said.

"What do you want?" Spirit said, sounding annoyed.

"If you're going to keep on being a sassy little prick, I'm going to do more than just erase your memory."

Spirit scoffed. "Wow, no interrogations, torture, nothing?"

"May I remind you that your friend is in the room beside us as we speak?" Shadow brandished a knife and held it behind his back, its blade blindingly shining under the light, "Besides, I'll have all the information, divulged or not, in my possession once you're through the machine."

Spirit tried harder and harder to break out. It was no use. She felt more tired and tired by the second, with her magic getting weaker and weaker.

"You're not the only one who knows magic, you know?"

"I know that, dipshit."

Clearly enjoying getting a rise out of her, Shadow pressed on. "Looks like I've finally become better..." Shadow looked at the chains binding Spirit down.

Spirit was growing sleepy, almost unconscious. She tried to stay awake, but just being under the chains was already enough to suck the lifeforce out of her. "Just shut up already..." she mumbled.

Shadow smiled. "Feeling sleepy, are we?"

"I..."

And just like that, Spirit fell unconscious.

(plot armour cuz I'm practically shitposting at this point)

Spirit woke up very confused. "Ugh..." she groaned. She tried getting up, but her body wanted otherwise. Her mind was a mess; everything she just went through felt like a dream. How much time had even passed anyway? All she could really remember was Shadow threatening to wipe her memory, pretty clear that failed.

At that moment, someone knocked on her door.

"Spirit! I wanna talk to you!"

That piercing voice could only come from one source. And, reluctantly, Spirit shouted back with all the force the could muster up at that point, "Come in...!"

The door clicked and opened and a small figure came in.

"So, uh, I wanted to ask you if you've se—" Screech looked at Spirit, Spirit looked back, confused.

"Yes...?"

Screech looked like he was about to just break down laughing.

"What is it? I know I probably look a bit messy, I just woke up, after all..."

Screech then spent the next 5 minutes trying to get his laughter under control. Spirit just watched him.

"I'm sorry, I gotta tell the others!" Screech left the room, giggling while as he did.

"I swear, these kids..." Spirit muttered, pulling the blanket over her head. She really needed to catch up on her sleep; fatigue was basically her blood at that point, coursing throughout her entire body.

==============================

After around half an hour or so, Spirit heard another knock. This time, it was thankfully less aggressive.

"Hey, you in there? It's Rush..."

Spirit sighed softly with relief. Thank God it's not another one of those assholes... she thought.

"Yeah, let yourself in," she said with her face implanted into her pillow. She heard the door open, followed by a pathetic attempt of hiding a gasp.

"Damn, Screech wasn't lying after all..."

She flipped her head over to face Rush. "Huh...? Lying about what?"

"Uh... I don't know how to say this, but..." Rush grabbed a small mirror on the table and passed it to her.

Spirit looked at the mirror, rubbing her eyes to sharpen her vision.

What she was presented with was nothing she could ever prepare for: Besides her usual reflection, it seemed she now donned one of those cat ear hairbands, those paw glove things, and a maid outfit.

"What... What the fuck?!" Spirit tried pulling the hairband off, but it just pulsed purple whenever she tried to.

"What did that fucker do to me?!" Spirit tried harder, still to no avail.

"Hey, hey, let's take it easy..." Rush placed his hand on Spirit's shoulder, attempting, but failing, to calm her down.

"No I will not calm down! Do you know how stupid I look right now?!" Spirit pushed Rush's hand off her shoulder. She huffed. There has to be some kind of spell to get this off of her, right? She tried to recall anything from her memory, which Shadow failed to erase. Nothing, she just couldn't conjure up even the slightest solution to this predicament.

Spirit felt a something small fall out of one of the pockets. It was a small piece of parchment. She unfolded it, inside, it read:

Thanks for your magic!
- Shadow

"Ugh, I can't take this anymore..." Spirit groaned.

"I'm here if you need to talk." Rush sat down on a chair beside the desk.

Spirit smiled. "Thanks..."

"Oi, Spirit! Look over here!" a voice from the other side of the door called out. A few seconds later, the door opened wide, revealing Screech, this time, holding a camera.

"Say cheese!"

The camera flashed, Screech laughing like he was high on drugs. "You look so cute!"

"I DO NOT!" Spirit protested, feeling completely flustered.

Rush sighed and stood up. "Oh my God, just leave her alone already!" he shouted, trying to grab the camera out of Screech's hands.

But it was no use, Screech had already made it off, shouting "Slowpoke!" whilst fleeing to safety at Rush.

"Hey, you alright?" Rush turned back to Spirit, who was hiding under the sheets.

"I look horrible... I look like one of those weird things people get crushes on... I hate it!"

It was sort of true, though. Rush moved his chair beside Spirit, who was basically about to break down by now. "I'm sure the others won't be such assholes like Screech, maybe Seek, but he's always a bitch, huh?" Rush let out a small chuckle.

"Not really funny, but I appreciate it..." Spirit slowly uncovered herself from the sheets, with a small smile on her face.
