Faded Promises

I'm bored.

Well I was bored until I told my dad and he came to the park with me.

I love being here, we moved because of my dad's job but I think I like Chicago.

Mom told me the pizza here is really good, but we haven't tried yet. Apparently it's not good for my health.

The wind today is really windy, I regret using a dress, I can't even play like I want to. The dress goes up and I'm scared stupid boys might see my panties.

I see the monkey bars and immediately go there, I use to play on that back home... where my friends are.

Mila was gonna invite me to her birthday party, now I don't know anyone.

Mom said the house next door has a boy my age but I never saw him.

Why that boy is looking so gloomy?

He's playing alone with some branches, the other kids don't want to play with him? He looks sad, maybe he needs a friend.

I take on step towards him and he looks at me, his eyes lock in mine and I lost track of my thoughts. Never in my live I saw someone like him, are his eyes for real? It's so green, I wished I had eyes like him, I have these boring brown eyes.

Does he wants to play with me or no?

Dad told me I should be a big girl and make friends so let's go.

"Why do you look so grumpy?" I ask, marching up to him with all the confidence a six-year-old could muster.

He continue to look at me and if looks could killl me.

"I'm not grumpy."

"You look grumpy," I say again, sitting next to him. "I'm Hanna. What's your name?"

"Aiden," he mumbles but stoped looking at me.

"Well, Aiden, let's be friends. Grumpy boys need friends too."

"You're annoying"

Rude much? I take the branch from his hand and throw it away. Don't wanna play with me so I won't let you play at all.

"Why did you did that?" He looks at me angry but I don't care, he called me annoying

When I don't answer, he grabs my arm and pulled me to him.

"You're annoying"

"You already told me that. Are you stupid? My dad says boys are dumber than girls"

He smiles and I saw his little dimple.

But I'm confused. Why he's smiling? I'm pretty sure I insulted him.

"Wanna play?"

I guess dad was right, boys are dumb.

"I'm talking to you. Wanna play?"

"Didn't you told me I was annoying?" I ask walking away from him

"You are but funny" he walks by my side

Today I'm super happy.

It's Aiden 10 birthday, his parents are doing a small party at their house. His mom did want to do a big party but Aiden being the grumpy kid he is, he asked for just a lunch at his place.

"Hana! Come down"

After some begging, mom agreed to help me make a cake for him.

Although mom is mad at him, yesterday we were climbing a tree and I fell.
