Hanna POV

I take a deep breath as I walk into the school building, my bag slinging over one shoulder and my coffee in hand.

Dad did tried to make me eat breakfast but his cooking skills were not to par today.

I'm still in the process of wakening, when I  dodge a group of freshmen who were hopelessly lost, smiling to myself. Ah, to be young and confused.

Good luck for them. I'm eager to leave this place.

Just as I'm about to round the corner to my locker, I collide with someone. My coffee, miraculously, doesn't spill, but my bag goes flying.

"Oh, for the love of god," I mutter , looking up to see who I'd bump into.

It's Aiden. Of course. And next to him is some girl I don't recognize. She looks at me like I'm something she'd scraped off her shoe. Lovely start to the day.

"Watch where you're going," she snaps, her tone dripping with disdain.

"Watch the way you talk." I shot back, picking up my bag and brushing off imaginary dust.

Aiden just stood there, silent and cold as ever. He didn't even bother to acknowledge my existence. I felt a flicker of annoyance, maybe for seeing me so early in the morning.

"Come on, Aiden," the girl says, tugging at his arm. "We're going to be late."

He glances at me for a split second, then turns and walks away without a word. Typical.

I sigh and make my way to my locker, trying to not let him ruin my day.

Sometimes I think about Lucy ideas of finding me a boy an make me forget about that idiot.

Lucy is already there, her blonde curls bouncing as she rummaged through her locker.

"Morning, Luce," I say, leaning against the metal door.

"Morning!" she chirps, turning to me with a bright smile. "It's Friday... my happy day"

"I can see that" I say. "I already had the pleasure of running into Aiden and his latest conquest."

Lucy's smile fades a bit. "Ugh, sorry. He's really good at making things awkward, isn't he?"

"Tell me about it," I mutter , stuffing my books into my locker.

At lunch, we find a spot, and I filled Lucy in on the morning drama.

"Anyway," I say, biting into my salad, "let's talk about something more fun. Ready for tomorrow?"

Lucy's eyes light up. "Oh my gosh, I'm so excited! Jake said he has his house all to himself so your friend is gonna be very happy after the movie"

"No need to know but enjoy" I say laughing "Speaking of Jake," I add , waggling my eyebrows, "I hear he wants to plan your birthday party."

Lucy blushes. "Yeah, he does. He's so sweet. I think he's more excited about it than I am."

"Well, considering he texted me with some questions. I can tell you, he's the one"

Lucy laughs. "I got lucky with him, didn't I?"

She did, I want something like they have

"You deserve it" I say genuinely happy for her. "And hey, at least you don't have to plan your own party."

"True," Lucy says, then gives me a sly look. "So, what about you? Any exciting plans for the weekend besides our movie date?"

I shrug. "Not really. Just the usual – drama club, working on the school paper..."
