Chapter 72: Meeting the Family

Amelia decided to meet Alexander's family, bracing herself for the unknown. "Alexander, I want to meet your family," she said casually. Alexander's expression changed, hinting at surprise and wariness. "Why?" Amelia shrugged. "Curious. You've mentioned them, and I want to understand you better." Alexander hesitated. "My family's... complicated." Amelia's eyes locked onto his. "I can handle complicated."

The next day, Amelia arrived at the estate, nervous. Alexander greeted her, his eyes searching. "Ready?" Amelia nodded. As they entered, she met Lucas, Alexander's older brother and Emily's father, and his wife Sophia. Lucas greeted her warmly, while Sophia playfully rolled her eyes.

"Amelia, lovely to finally meet you," Lucas said, his smile genuine. "Don't scare her off yet," Sophia teased. Amelia laughed, feeling at ease. "We're glad he's found someone to keep him in line." Amelia smiled. "I'm trying."

As the night ended, Lucas turned serious. "Amelia, we're glad you're here. We want to get to know you better." Amelia's heart warmed. "Thanks, Lucas. That means a lot." But amidst the warmth, Amelia sensed tension and hidden agendas. Alexander's family was indeed complicated.

"Now, Amelia, we're going to meet Ethan, but there are rules."
