Emily rushed into Alexander's arms, trembling. "What happened, kiddo?" Alexander asked, his expression darkening as Emily recounted her terrifying encounter. "A weird guy was following me. He tried to grab me, but I kicked him... down there." Emily's voice shook. "I ran away, threw dust in his friend's face, and... and he got angry. They were chasing me."
Just then, a menacing voice spoke from behind. "Well, well, well. Look what we have here. You think this guy's gonna save you?" A hand reached for Emily's wrist. Alexander's eyes blazed with fury. In an instant, he transformed, his devilish side unleashed. He pulled out his gun and aimed.
The man's eyes widened as Alexander pulled the trigger. A silent shot. The man crumpled to the ground. Alexander's voice was low and deadly. "Anyone else?" Emily shook her head, tears streaming down her face. Alexander's expression softened. "You're safe now, kiddo." He scooped Emily into his arms, holding her close.
Vinnie appeared, gun drawn. "Need backup, sir?" Alexander nodded. "Secure the area. Find out who sent these guys." Vinnie vanished into the shadows. Sophia rushed to the scene, frantic. "Emily! Oh, thank God!" Alexander's eyes locked onto Sophia's. "We're leaving. Now."
As they fled, another man emerged from the shadows, his hand reaching for Emily. Alexander instinctively stepped forward, but before he could react, Emily snatched the gun from his hand. A loud bang echoed through the air. The man crumpled to the ground, clutching his leg.
Alexander's eyes widened in shock. "Emily!" Without a word, he swept Emily into his arms and rushed her inside the house. Sophia followed, pale and shaken. As they entered, Alexander gently pried the gun from Emily's trembling fingers. "It's okay, kiddo. You're safe now."
Emily's eyes welled up with tears. "I won't let anyone hurt me, Uncle Alexander." Alexander's expression softened. "You don't have to, Emily. I'm here to protect you." Sophia intervened, guiding Emily to the couch. "Let's get you calm, sweetie."
Alexander's mind raced. Emily's actions had caught him off guard. He knew she was fiercely independent, but this...
Alexander's eyes locked onto Emily's, his voice firm but gentle. "Emily, you shouldn't have done that. I was there to protect you."
Emily's gaze didn't waver. "Uncle, I did what I felt was right."
Alexander's expression softened, pride mixing with concern. "You're brave, kiddo, but taking a life... it's not easy to live with."
Emily's voice trembled. "I won't let anyone hurt me or the people I love."
Alexander hugged her tightly. "I'll always protect you, Emily. You don't have to face danger alone."
Sophia intervened, her voice calm. "Let's focus on the present. We need to understand why these men targeted Emily."
Vinnie spoke up, his expression grim. "Preliminary findings suggest a human trafficking ring. They're getting bolder."
Alexander's jaw clenched. "We'll find out who's behind this and make them pay."
Alexander smiled warmly. "Sleep, kiddo. You have your long-awaited sketching competition tomorrow."
Emily's eyes pleaded. "But can you stay with me, please?"
Alexander hesitated, his expression softening. He knew Emily's fragile state after the day's events.
"Okay, kiddo," he said, settling beside her on the bed.
Emily snuggled into his side, her eyes closing. Alexander wrapped his arms around her, holding her close.
