Lucas and Alexander stepped into the estate's quiet library, shutting the door behind them.
"Alexander, what's going on with Emily?" Lucas asked softly.
Alexander's expression remained calm. "I'm training her, Lucas. She asked me to."
Lucas's voice was laced with concern. "Training her for what?"
Alexander's gaze met Lucas's. "Self-defense, tactical strategy... she wants to learn."
Lucas's brow furrowed. "Why?"
Alexander's tone was measured. "She's aware of our family's business, Lucas. She wants to protect herself."
Lucas's eyes narrowed. "And you agreed?"
Alexander nodded. "I did. She's determined, Lucas. If I didn't train her, she'd find someone else. And I couldn't live with that."
Lucas's voice dropped to a whisper. "What if she gets hurt?"
Alexander's expression turned grave. "If she trains with someone else, I wouldn't know how to protect her. But with me... I can ensure her safety."
Lucas's gaze searched Alexander's face. "You're doing this for Emily's safety?"
Alexander nodded. "Yes. And for yours, Lucas. If Emily's not trained, she's vulnerable. Arrest, kidnapping... or worse. I won't let that happen."
Lucas's voice rose in concern. "Alexander, I don't want Emily trained. If she's with you, I'll always worry that, I'll get news she's arrested or killed."
Alexander's expression turned calm. "I understand, Lucas."
Lucas's anger subsided, replaced by pleading. "Please, Alexander. She's just a kid. She doesn't need this right now."
Alexander nodded. "Okay, Lucas. I'll stop training her."
Lucas's eyes searched Alexander's face. "Promise me."
Alexander's gaze locked onto Lucas's. "I promise. Emily's safety comes first."
Lucas's tension eased, relieved.
Alexander continued. "But, Lucas, Emily's determined. She'll find ways to learn. I'll keep an eye on her, ensure she stays safe."
Lucas nodded, grateful. "Thanks, Alexander. I appreciate it."
The brothers shared a silent understanding.
