She Was Perfect

She didn't have to try so hard to get anyone's attention, and that's what pissed me off. I had to work hard to get where I'm at, just for Freya to come around and take all the attention away from me. It started with my family, then friends, and before I could say I wanted Cooper, he already had his eyes on her. But Freya couldn't handle someone like him; she was too weak.

"June?" I snapped back from my thoughts when I heard my best friend say my name softly. "What happened?" She asked, looking around and noticing the cast on her leg. "You passed out when you were running and hurt your leg. Don't worry, it isn't broken, but you can't run for the rest of this track season," the nurse explained while checking on her.

"How long was I out?" Freya asked, trying to hide my true expressions "Only 24 hours," I answered, "but there's something I have to tell you, and I don't want you to worry about it," I said, looking into her hazel eyes as she waited for me to finish.
"Summer hooked up with Cooper," I said, feeling my blood boil. "The night of your track meet. Why would she do that? You knew I liked him, I told y'all everything," Freya asked me, confused. "Because she's not a true friend," I answered.
Flashback End
"Boss, why did you let her go?" Enzo said, mad and frustrated. "Enzo, that's what your sister wanted. You know I can't win with a pregnant lady," I said with a laugh. "Now is not the time to be joking. Wait, you said sister?" Milo said, looking at me. "I knew it," he said, hitting Enzo on the shoulder lightly.

"You didn't know anything," I said out loud as everyone laughed at my comment. "I shot someone today," Milo said proudly. "I've got to go tell my father about it, he say," he said as he walked out of the room with his phone to his ear. "It's good he stepped in because if I would have, she would have died."
"Waylon, are you good?" Enzo asked my best friend as he sat in a chair, looking down at the floor. "You might as well let it out before you do something you'll regret," I said, looking at him. "She played with my fucking feelings, man," Waylon yelled. "Cooper, how could I be so stupid? The signs were right there in my face," he said as he pulled him into a hug. "Just fly Tessa out here and forget about that crazy bitch. She doesn't deserve you, bro."

"Where is Freya?" I asked Cooper. "She has a big day at work tomorrow," he replied before my boyfriend Waylon pulled his best friend Cooper to play beer pong with them. The party was full of rich, drunk people. I knew Cooper and Freya had to be fighting because she loved partying, but that just left an opportunity for me. It seemed like Cooper was already drunk. "What the fuck are you doing?" he asked me. "I was just trying to help you, that's all," I said, looking into his blue eyes. "Don't touch me," he said with a disgusted face. "What's wrong?" Waylon asked him as he lifted him off the couch. "Just take me home," he said, eyeing me like he wanted to kill me. I knew I should be scared, but it left me craving for more.
End Flashback
I felt his presence when he entered the room, and I buried my head into the pillow more. "It's been days, Freya," he spoke as if I hadn't just lost someone I thought cared for me.

"I can't go down there acting like I'm okay," I yelled as his eyes darkened before he shut our room door. "I'm not happy anymore. This trip turned into my worst nightmare in the blink of an eye because of your best friend, not mine," he yelled at me, and I became emotional, not because he yelled, but because he was right. The very person I imagined all this with was plotting against me the whole time.
"Did you know?" I asked him with a sad voice. "I tried to protect you," he said. "Cooper not telling me something my best friend tried to do is not protecting me," I cried. "I didn't know she was in love with me, Freya. I actually thought it was the opposite," Cooper said to me with a serious face. "That's why I didn't want her around you," he added. "Now she's gone out of my life. Are you fucking happy?" I asked him as he had his back against the wall. "I'm trying to make you feel better, but you're making it really hard for me. Stop fucking talking to me that way."
