Chapter 3

Farrah

“Bakit ka nandito?” I asked Ybrahim.

“Napadaan lang, I was jogging.” Ybrahim explained.

Jogging at three a.m.?

“It’s too early to jog. I might believe you if five a.m. na, that’s probably reasonable.” I looked straight into his eyes.

“You got me. I just saw that you’re still up, online status sa messenger.”

“And?”

“I got bored, I checked my siblings. East’s playing computer games and ignored me, South’s doing his schoolwork and North— he’s already asleep.” He explained.

“So you have no one to bother and suddenly think of me?” I raised my brows.

“Kinda.” Tumaas ang sulok ng labi nito. “But I brought you Vitamilk.” He added.

“For what?”

He didn’t answer. “Hey, just don’t be harsh on yourself.” He sighed.

“Magkatext ba kayo ni Chanler?” I asked, napansin kong halos pareho sila ng naiisip.

“Why?”

“Ayan din chinachat niya sa akin kanina.” I said.

“Magkachat kayo?”

“Yep, kaya online ako earlier. Binubulabog niya ako.” I laughed.

“Are you really just fine?”

I nodded.

“You’re worrying the hell out of me.” He said before chugging one bottle of Vitamilk from the box he brought.

Dad’s finally recovering. Madalas akong bumisita sakaniya but I usually don’t show up in his face, thinking that I might stress him out.

“Adamson-Voire, Marganes, Rosanario, Suarez, Tiu, and Leandrino. That’ll be the members of group seven.” Our teacher announced.

Napakamot ako sa aking ulo, mukhang wala kaming magagawang matino nito.

“Farrah looks stressed.” Simon commented.

“Sino bang ‘di masi-stress kung maging kagrupo ka?” Leticia said.

“Ouch, grabe ka naman. May ambag naman ako sa grupo natin.” Simon acted hurt.

“Like what?” I asked.

“Next question please.” Simon said.

Honestly, hindi ko alam kung may magagawa ba kaming maayos sa groupings na ‘to. We were asked to create an innovative food product na ibebenta rin namin sa food bazaar ng school. We started brainstorming as soon as our professor left.

“What about tofu balls?” Chanler suggested.

“Anong pwedeng gawin diyan?” Ybrahim asked.

“We’ll create tofu balls obviously, then i-glaze natin with takoyaki sauce or something.” Chanler explained.

“That’s actually not bad.” Leticia said.

“Let’s just add some fillings sa tofu balls natin para lalong magkaroon ng elevation like tuna for uniqueness, tinapa, or caramelized onions para unusal.” I explained. “What should we call it then?” I asked, nabanggit din kasing dapat makagawa rin kami ng pangalan ng product namin.
