Wei Ying stirred from his sleep, rubbing his eyes as they adjusted to the light filtering through the room. Slowly, he opened them and took in the unfamiliar surroundings. The elegant and tastefully decorated cabin made him freeze momentarily, unsure of where he was.

A pang of fear jolted through him as he sat up abruptly, scanning the room. The couch he was on was soft, and the blanket wrapped around him smelled of sandalwood, its calming scent easing some of his initial panic.

The sound of a door opening caught his attention, and Wei Ying whipped his head around. A young man emerged from the washroom, his face vaguely familiar. Wei Ying instinctively got defensive, clutching the blanket tightly, until recognition dawned on him. This was the person who had escorted him to the waiting room earlier.

“Hello, Mr. Wei Wuxian,” the young man began, offering a polite smile. “My name is Lan Jingyi, and I’m the trusted secretary of Mr. Lan Wangji.”

Wei Ying blinked, confused but listening as Jingyi continued, “You’re probably wondering how you ended up here. Well, let me tell you, my boss—being the absolute prince charming that he is—carried you up here himself. He tucked you in with this very blanket you’re holding onto. He left for some urgent work but instructed me to take care of you. So, here I am!”

Lan Jingyi’s enthusiasm was palpable as he added with a proud smile, “Now, are you feeling better? Do you need anything? Tea, water, snacks? Whatever you want, I’ll arrange it because, you know, I am the best secretary of Mr. Lan Wangji.”

Wei Ying stared at him, his expression a mix of bewilderment and amusement. His head throbbed faintly as Jingyi’s endless chatter filled the room. How much does this guy talk? Wei Ying thought, his lips twitching with the ghost of a smile despite himself. My head is already aching, and now it’s worse thanks to this secretary’s speech.

He sighed and rubbed his temples. “Uh… thanks… Lan Jingyi, right? I think I’m fine. Maybe just… a glass of water?”

Jingyi beamed, clapping his hands together. “Water! Coming right up! One glass of perfectly refreshing water for our VIP guest!” He dashed off before Wei Ying could respond, leaving him shaking his head in disbelief.

“Prince charming, huh?” Wei Ying muttered under his breath, his heart skipping a beat as he imagined Lan Wangji’s stoic face.
