The elders had already begun making their way to the beautifully decorated dining area set up outside for the evening.

Lan Wangji remained behind with his brother, Xichen, while Wei Ying was accompanied by, Jiang Cheng and Yanli.

"Hello, Professor Lan Xichen," Wei Ying and Jiang Cheng greeted in unison, their voices overlapping in a cheerful chorus. Yanli chuckled softly at the coincidence, her warm smile lighting up her face.

“It’s been such a long time, hasn’t it, Xichen?” Yanli said with a gentle smile, her tone carrying the familiarity of old friends reconnecting.

Xichen smiled back warmly. “Yes, it has, Yanli. It’s really good to see you again.” He glanced at her fondly; they had been schoolmates he was her senior, and Xichen had always looked out for Yanli like a protective older brother.

Xichen and Yanli slowly made their way toward the dining area, catching up on old memories and leaving the younger ones behind.

Jiang Cheng’s phone buzzed with an incoming call from a friend, and after a quick glance, he excused himself to take it, leaving Wei Ying and Lan Wangji standing alone in the elegant hallway.

The atmosphere shifted immediately. Lan Wangji’s eyes were fixed solely on Wei Ying, who was lost in his own thoughts, plotting ways to seduce the man he believed to be his nemesis.

Lan Wangji couldn’t tear his gaze away. Wei Ying was enchanting, every detail of him perfect and effortless. The delicate curve of his lips, the subtle sway of his movements, and the way his eyes sparkled with hidden mischief—it was all too captivating.
But the dress Wei Ying was wearing was look like cute than sexy.

Lan Wangji’s heart pounded, each beat echoing louder in his chest.
Wei Ying, on the other hand, was oblivious to how his mere existence was more than enough to make Lan Wangji’s heart race.

Caught up in his plans, Wei Ying thought he needed to do something extraordinary to get Lan Wangji’s attention, unaware that he had already won the battle without even trying.

The silence between them broke, as Nie Huisang made a dramatic entrance without noticing Lan Wangji’s presence. “Hey, my beautiful friend!” Huisang’s loud voice echoed through the hallway.

Lan Wangji snapped back to reality, his intense gaze softening as Wei Ying’s face lit up at the sight of Huisang. Wei Ying rushed towards Huisang, embracing him like they were reuniting after years apart. “Ohh, my dear friend Sangu!” Wei Ying exclaimed, squeezing Huisang tightly.

Lan Wangji’s initial reaction was one of surprise, but it quickly turned into something else—a flicker of irritation stirred within him as he watched the two friends hug.

He didn’t understand why, but the sight of Wei Ying in someone else’s arms made his chest tighten. Lan Wangji’s usually stoic expression turned a shade darker, as he observed the close interaction.

When the hug ended, Huisang finally noticed Lan Wangji standing nearby, radiating a cold aura. Wangji’s intense stare made it clear that he wasn’t pleased, and Huisang felt the sudden shift in atmosphere. “He…hello, Mr. Lan,” Huisang greeted, his voice stammering slightly under the weight of Wangji’s gaze.

Wei Ying turned back to Wangji and noticed the shift in his expression, his brow furrowing slightly. Lan Wangji gave a curt nod in response to Huisang’s greeting, and an awkward silence settled between them.

Trying to lighten the mood, Wei Ying quickly intervened. “Oh, okay! I think we should head to the dining area now,” Wei Ying suggested, his voice bright and casual. “Huisang, can you grab Cheng Cheng? He’s over there.” He pointed in the direction where Jiang Cheng had wandered off.
