After finishing the meal, Lan Wangji offered to drop Wei Ying off at his house, but Wei Ying shook his head. "I still need to complete the task I’ve planned for my research project," he said, glancing at the clock. It was already 3:30 PM.

"Do you need any help from my side? I can come with you," Wangji offered, his tone calm, yet Wei Ying was still perplexed. Why is he being so nice? Wei Ying thought. This wasn’t the usual behavior from his so-called “monkey brain” of an enemy.

"No, I can handle it myself. I just need to go around and talk to some employees about their work. It’s not much," Wei Ying replied, already standing up and slipping on his shoes. He grabbed his bag and turned toward Wangji. "Can you tell me where the HR department is? I was going to ask the reception this morning, but... never mind. Just tell me where it is."

Wangji, seeing that Wei Ying was already determined, called his secretary, Jingyi, immediately. "Jingyi will take you to HR," he said, his voice firm but caring.

Wei Ying was about to protest, but Wangji stopped him. "He will go with you. I don't want anything to happen to you, bunny," Wangji added, his expression softening slightly.

Wei Ying sighed, nodding in acceptance. He then left the room with Jingyi.

Inside the elevator, Jingyi kept talking about the company and his boss, Lan Wangji. Wei Ying, was writing everything on his notepad, jotting down notes. He didn’t mind the extra chatter by him, as Jingyi’s company wasn’t unpleasant. The ride to the HR department was brief, and once there, Wei Ying quickly spoke with the HR staff. They granted him permission to stay for an hour, as it was already late and the employees were busy.

Wei Ying began his observations, talking to some employees, asking questions, and writing everything down in his notepad. Some employees were kind enough to answer his questions, while others were too busy to spare time. Regardless, Wei Ying managed to gather some useful information.

Through it all, Jingyi remained by his side, silently observing, not intruding. Whenever Wei Ying asked for something or needed assistance, Jingyi was quick to help, offering guidance when necessary.

"Mr. Wei, do you need a chair? You've been standing for the past 30 minutes," Jingyi asked, concern creeping into his voice.

Wei Ying smiled back, shaking his head. "No, thank you, Mr. Lan Jingyi. I’m fine," he replied. Despite his usual independent nature, he appreciated Jingyi's consideration. The secretary was, surprisingly, very good company, and Wei Ying didn’t mind his presence at all.

After finishing his work, Wei Ying was about to leave and decided to call Jiang Cheng to pick him up. However, as the elevator doors slid open, he was surprised to see Lan Wangji already inside.

Lan Wangji stepped out and asked, “Is your work complete?”

Wei Ying nodded. “Hmm, I was about to leave and call Cheng to pick me up.”

“There’s no need to bother him,” Lan Wangji said firmly. “I’ll drop you off. I have some work to discuss with your father anyway.” Without waiting for Wei Ying’s response, he gently took his hand and led him toward the elevator. “Jingyi, handle any emergencies and other matters. Call me if needed,” he instructed as they stepped inside together.

“Yes, sir,” Jingyi replied, watching the elevator doors close behind them.

When they arrived at the parking area, Wei Ying was struck by how empty and pristine it was. Only one car was parked there—a sleek red Lamborghini. The sight of the luxurious vehicle left Wei Ying momentarily stunned.

Lan Wangji walked to the passenger side and opened the door. “Get in.”

Without hesitation, Wei Ying slid into the seat, marveling at the car’s immaculate interior. Lan Wangji got into the driver’s seat, and soon they were on their way to the Jiang and Wei mansion.
