The silence in the living room was heavy and unnerving. The boy looked around, feeling a pang of anxiety as his family sat there, staring at him, utterly speechless. He had never seen them so quiet or so shocked.

Wei Ying hadn’t expected that telling them he was dating someone would lead to such a reaction. In fact, he was beginning to wonder if he needed to call an ambulance or a psychiatrist. Thirty minutes had passed, and still, no one spoke—not even his Shijie. His worry only grew as he watched them, hoping someone would finally break the silence and say something, anything, to ease his growing unease.

Finally, Jiang Cheng broke the silence, his voice filled with protective urgency as he asked, “Did he force you into this relationship?”

Wei Ying sighed, though he couldn’t help but smile at his overprotective brother. “No, Cheng, he didn’t force me. He actually told me that if I wasn’t comfortable, I could say no. So, no, he didn’t pressure me at all.”

He reached out to pat Jiang Cheng’s shoulder, hoping his words would ease his brother’s concerns.

With that, everyone snapped out of their shock and started bombarding Wei Ying with questions: “When did this start?” “How did you two meet?” “Where did it all begin?”

Wei Ying eagerly explained everything about Lan Zhan—how they’d started chatting and now officially were dating. Although his family members felt concerned about him dating someone he hadn’t even met in person, they could see his happiness and chose not to voice their worries.

As the conversation continued, everyone began discussing Lan Zhan, while the ladies offered Wei Ying advice on dating. Amidst the excitement, Jiang Fengmian cast a puzzled glance when he heard Lan Zhan’s name. He was certain he’d heard it somewhere before, but couldn’t recall where, and his confusion went unnoticed by everyone else.

After talking with his family, Wei Ying went upstairs to his room, bidding them goodnight. He was about to get into bed when he received a message. Settling comfortably, he opened his phone and smiled at the name—it was Lan Zhan.

Lan Zhan choked a little reading what Wei Ying called him.

But Huisang said we should call our boyfriends “daddy” because it makes them happy. At first, I didn’t get why, since you’re not my father, but he told me you’d like it.😔

Lan Zhan sighed, thinking about how to handle Nie Huisang for filling his innocent baby’s mind with this idea. But first, he needed to reassure his sulking Wei Ying.
