"To solve this, you will use the analysis of variance in this research problem," Xui Ching explained in his strict tone. He scanned the room for any raised hands. "Now, if anyone has any doubts, ask them now."

The class remained silent.

"Alright then," he continued. "That’s it for today. I hope you’re all prepared to start your research. I’ve reviewed some of your topics, and I see that a few of you have already applied to the organizations where you’ll conduct your studies. If you face any difficulties, reach out to me immediately."

He paused for a moment before adding, "And remember, you must collect a formal letter from the university whenever you visit your research site. You have three months to complete and submit your work. After that, your mid-term exams will begin. Make good use of your time."

With that, he dismissed the class, leaving the students buzzing with plans and concerns about their projects.

"Bro Wuxian, where are you doing your research? Professor Xui said some students have already submitted their topics, and I'm still confused. What about you?" Nie Huaisang asked, frowning slightly.

Wei Ying smirked and replied, "Oh, I’ve already applied for my research. The organization gave me permission too. I’ll be starting it soon." His proud grin spread wider.

"Really? Then why didn’t you tell me?" Huaisang whined, clearly feeling left out. "By the way, what’s the topic? And which organization?"

Wei Ying’s smile turned mischievous. "The topic is ‘The Impact of Stress and................ Corporate Employees,’ and the organization is..." He paused for dramatic effect, then smirked. "Lan Enterprises." He finished with a confident, sassy tone.

Huaisang’s jaw dropped, his expression filled with disbelief. "What? Why? I thought you were already over with Lan Wangji’s nonsense."

"No! Not yet! He dared to mess with me, and I can’t let it go," Wei Ying declared, crossing his arms and pouting angrily.

"But, Wuxian, this isn’t like you. You’ve never cared about people who mean nothing to you, no matter what they said or did. So why are you giving so much attention to Lan Wangji? Or maybe... you’ve started to fall for him?" Huaisang teased, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

Wei Ying shot him a sharp look. "I already have Lan Zhan, my boyfriend. Why would I fall for that devil?" He huffed indignantly, his pout growing deeper.

Huaisang chuckled nervously, knowing the truth that Wei Ying was blissfully unaware of—that the devil he was supposedly avenging himself against and the sweet boyfriend he adored were the same person. He wanted to tell his friend but knew it wasn’t his place. Instead, he sighed internally, feeling bad for Wei Ying and the tangled mess that awaited him.

Nie Huaisang gave Wei Ying a knowing look but decided to drop the topic. "Alright, let’s not dwell on it anymore. Let’s go! Jiang Cheng must be waiting for us," Wei Ying said cheerfully, brushing off the conversation as they both headed out.

That morning, Wei Ying had woken up to a series of sweet good morning messages from Lan Zhan. His heart had fluttered as he read them, his mood lifting instantly. Lan Zhan’s warmth and thoughtfulness made Wei Ying feel cherished. Adding to his excitement was the fact that he had received approval for his research. Everything seemed to be falling into place for him.

As they reached the corridor, they spotted Jiang Cheng walking toward them, his usual scowl firmly in place. "Ugh, this final year of engineering is driving me insane," Jiang Cheng grumbled, running a hand through his hair. "So many assignments, so many practicals, and now there’s the internship too. It’s all piling up!"
