The car came to a smooth stop, but the passenger in the front seat remained still, lost in thought. The driver glanced at him and gently called out, “Young Master, we’re here.”

Wei Ying blinked, snapping out of his anxious daze. “Oh… haha… y-yes, Uncle Ken!” He stuttered, his nerves still evident. After a brief pause, he turned to Ken with hopeful eyes. “Umm… Uncle Ken, can you come with me inside... please?” His wide, pleading puppy eyes practically sparkled, a look no one could ever resist.

Ken sighed, his lips curling into a fond smile. “Ahh, Young Master, how can I ever say no to you? But…” he hesitated, glancing at the towering building in front of them. “I’m afraid someone like me might not be allowed inside. I mean, just look at that place—it’s so high-class and fancy. I don’t want to embarrass you.”

Wei Ying’s expression immediately softened, then turned firm. “Uncle Ken, what did I tell you before? You are worthy. Don’t ever look down on yourself like that. You’re a kind soul and always so helpful!” He crossed his arms for added effect. “Sure, I don’t like your wife, Aunt Suzi—she fights with me all the time. But that’s a different matter!”

Ken chuckled at the mention of his feisty wife, but Wei Ying wasn’t done. “What matters is you, Uncle Ken. You’re amazing, so stop doubting yourself! Now, come with me, at least to the reception. And I promise I won't tell your wife you eating sugar candy secretly, Pretty please?”

Ken sighed again, but this time it was laced with warmth. “Alright, alright, Young Master. Just till the reception,” he said, shaking his head with a soft smile. “But you better not let Aunt Suzi find out I was eating candy. She’ll make me sleep on the couch for a week.”

Wei Ying grinned, his earlier nerves momentarily forgotten. “Deal! Let’s go, Uncle Ken!”

With that, Wei Ying stepped out of the car, his heart still racing but feeling a little braver with his trusted Driver Uncle Ken by his side.

The grand interior of the building was even more lavish than its exterior, with gleaming marble floors and intricate chandeliers hanging from the high ceilings. Ken walked behind Wei Ying, feeling a bit out of place in such a luxurious setting but unwilling to leave his young master alone.

"Uncle, this place is really eye-catching, right?" Wei Ying said with a small smile, trying to lighten the mood.

Ken nodded, his expression warm but a bit hesitant. “It’s something else, for sure,” he said, his voice low as they approached the reception desk.

The receptionist, a sharply dressed young man with a disinterested air, had overheard their brief conversation. His gaze turned cold as he thought them as uncle and nephew. And also some poor people, jumping to the wrong conclusion.

Wei Ying stepped forward, his polite smile intact. “Good morning, sir. I wanted to ask—”

The receptionist interrupted him rudely, leaning forward with a sneer. “Who let you inside, huh?”

Wei Ying blinked, taken aback. “Excuse me?”

“What, you didn’t hear me?” the receptionist said with venom in his tone. “People like you come in here all the time, begging for donations or favors. Don’t you have anything better to do than bother rich people?”

Wei Ying froze, the sting of the words sinking in. He wasn’t used to being spoken to so cruelly, and his throat tightened. Tears pricked at his eyes, but he held them back, determined not to cry in front of this man.
