Betrayal. That was the only word that could describe what Wei Ying was feeling. His heart was shattered by the very person he loved the most. A storm of unreasonable thoughts swirled in his mind. 'Why did Lan Zhan do this to me? Why did he hide his identity? Was everything we shared—his love, his affection—just a joke to him?'

The more he thought, the more unbearable the pain became. His mind was racing, drowning in a torrent of emotions. Before he could spiral further, the car stopped abruptly, jolting him back to reality. He quickly got out, not sparing a glance at Huisang, and ran into the house.

Huisang, who had been driving, tried calling out to him, but Wei Ying didn’t stop. His tears flowed uncontrollably, his sobs echoing in the otherwise silent night.

Huisang could only sigh as he recalled what had just happened. Back in the hotel hall, Wei Ying had come running from the balcony, his face streaked with tears. Without addressing anyone or explaining himself, he had simply asked Huisang to take him home.

Huisang, understanding that something significant had occurred, didn’t press him for answers. He had silently driven them back, the only sound in the car being Wei Ying’s heart-wrenching cries. Huisang’s heart ached for his friend, knowing how deeply Wei Ying had fallen for Lan Zhan.

Once they arrived, Huisang hoped to comfort him, but Wei Ying ran so fast into the mansion that Huisang couldn’t say a word.

Now standing outside the mansion door, Huisang sighed deeply. Moments later, he heard the sounds of more cars pulling up to the gates. It was the rest of the Jiang and Wei families arriving from the hotel.

“Where is A’Ying?” Cangse Sanren asked urgently, stepping out of the car and approaching Huisang.

Huisang glanced at the mansion and replied softly, “He’s inside.” He paused for a moment, then added with a weary sigh, “I think we should give him some time. He’s feeling terrible right now and needs space to process everything.”

Turning to the rest of the family, Huisang continued, “I’ll take my leave now. You all should get some rest, too. Goodnight.”

He waved goodbye, his heart heavy as he walked to his car. All he could hope was that Wuxian would find the strength to face whatever had happened.

The next morning, everyone gathered around the breakfast table at the Wei and Jiang household. The atmosphere was heavy with gloom. The memory of their beloved Wei Ying crying his heart out the previous night weighed on everyone. He hadn’t come out of his room since, and out of concern, no one had disturbed him.

However, as the clock struck 9 a.m., worry began to settle. Wei Ying hadn’t appeared yet, not even when Yanli had knocked on his door earlier in the morning.

“I think someone should call him for breakfast. He didn’t eat anything last night either,” Jiang Fengmian said with a hint of concern.

“Hmph. Let me handle this,” Madam Yu said, standing up. “He won’t say no to me.”

But just as she was about to leave, the door to the dining hall creaked open, and in walked Wei Ying. He wore an oversized black hoodie and shorts, his disheveled appearance making everyone’s heart sink. The dark circles under his eyes were stark, and his pale, puffy cheeks gave him an almost zombie-like look.

“Hey everyone!” he greeted, attempting a cheerful tone, but the strain in his voice was evident.

Yanli immediately rushed to him, gently pulling him toward a chair. “A’Xian, come sit here,” she said softly, concern etched on her face.
