"Promise me one thing...that you will try to look after them all"
Miss Peregrine glared at the beastly man in front of her as sparks of rage blazed in her eyes and her jaw clenched tightly. Barron took a step forward into the house along with Jake, pushing the raven haired woman to the side.
(Y/n), along with the rest of the peculiar children stood together on the staircase. The younger children's eyes were practically popping out of their heads in fright as the older children kept still and steady faces though they were as equally terrified deep down.
"Children! Would you make your way down the stairs please?" Mister Barron commanded with a grin. Miss Peregrine narrowed her eyes at the man. "I give the orders in this house" "Not today. You should know that Jake and (Y/n) have served their purposes well. They ran all the way to the loop entrance to show me exactly where it was hidden and (Y/n) lead the way to the house perfectly" he taunted, looking up at the girl who stood on the staircase.
"I do suggest that if you all value Jake's life, everyone does as I say." Mister Barron hissed at the headmistress before shouting once more. "Children!" "Shush!" The raven haired woman raised a finger to her lips as a deadly glare brushed over her eyes. "No one tells my children what to do" she demanded.
Miss Peregrine slowly turned her head to the peculiars standing behind her.
"Children, come down here please." She said softly. After her word, the children slowly descended down the staircase. "Miss Peregrine I-" "I thought I told you to be quiet" she snapped at Barron.
"Children, for Jake's safety we are going to do what Mister Barron asks. He wishes to take me to his rendezvous in Blackpool. So for his protection, he would like me to assume bird form, preferably in a locked cage. And he would like you all to make your way into a lockable and controllable room such as the parlour. As he won't release Jake if he fears an attack could be mounted upon him once he loses his leverage." She explained calmly before turning her head back to Barron. "Correct Mister Barron?" She raised an eyebrow.
Enoch sighed. "You're sacrificing yourself and all of us...for Jake?" He asked, unamused. "Mister Barron travels with a Hollow, Enoch. Once it arrives here...we're all dead." Miss Peregrine stated as Barron chuckled at his cunning plan, showing his rows of sharp teeth.
(Y/n) nudged the brown eyed boys arm gaining his attention as he tilted his head to hear her whisper. "don't you remember that only Jake can see the hollows?...he's our last hope" she hissed with a saddened expression. Enoch pressed his lips together and nodded.
The peculiar children slowly began to enter the parlour. They each passed their defeated headmistress who held a sorrowful frown as mascara stained tears rolled down her cheeks. The younger children's visions were clouded with tears as they entered the room first. Miss Peregrine kept her eyes on the floor beneath her, she didn't want to see her poor children, it broke her heart into millions of pieces knowing she would never be able to see them again.
Olive was next in line to enter the parlour, she took Miss Peregrines hand and held it gently for a moment, the woman looked up at the fiery red haired girl and gave her a sad smile. Next was Enoch, who placed a hand on her shoulder and held a somewhat compassionate smile before it turned to a bitter glare aimed at Barron. Then it was (Y/n)'s turn to say goodbye.
Miss Peregrine took the girls hands and held them tightly for a moment as she smiled weakly at the girl. (Y/n)'s eyes filled with tears as she looked at the heartbroken head mistress before following the others and leaving her warm touch. Emma was the last to say a final goodbye. She hugged Miss Peregrine tightly with a sniffle and then made her way into the Parlour.
Miss Peregrine stood at the door of the room, looking at all the peculiars once more.
"It's been my privilege to care for you all. Goodbye, my children." Her voice trembled in sadness as she closed the wooden doors, leaving the children inside.
