Arthur's POV

It was clear Merlin was not going just for water Arthur thought as he picked up the clothes that Merlin had left on his bed but what he didn't understand was why he had gone after his mother or less Merlin had sensed or seen something in his mother Arthur could not. Which would make sense considering it was his mother after all and he had known her his whole life.

Arthur had only seen her a few times but he knew she was a kind women who cared a lot for her son even if he is clumsy, annoying, stubborn and sometimes has to be put in his right place. She loved her son the way Arthur found Merlin as a friend because of the way he was and if he every changed, Arthur would be the first one to warn his friend to go back to his self or he will throw him in the stocks till he became him self again. Arthur never wanted Merlin to change not now and not ever.

Merlin's POV

Merlin ran through the corridor quickly easily catching up with his mother and put his hand on her shoulder. She turned to face him and he smiled.

"Merlin what is wrong?" she asked.

"It is not what is wrong with me it is what is wrong with you I can tell you are hiding something from me," he began.

"I should have known you would spot it...but not now Merlin I will tell you later what is wrong back in Gaius's chambers where all three of us can seat down and talk about it for now you need to beside Arthur you are obviously facing trouble as well and Arthur is more important," said Hunith.

"Mother what trouble are you in?" Merlin began to panic.

"Nothing that can not wait now go, Arthur will be wondering where you are good luck my son," she smiled as she kissed her son on his cheek and headed off. Merlin watched his mother walk away from him and couldn't help but feel sad.

"Dame," Merlin said as he watched people walking by, they were on there way to the council meeting he had to be quick. Merlin took one more glance at his mother who was nearly out of his sight before he turned the way he came running as fast as he could back towards Arthur's chambers. He nearly forgot he needed the water and walked back through the door without it but he remembered at the last moment and had to run to the kitchen to get it. The time he burst through Arthur's chambers he was half done with his breakfast and was dressed which Merlin was impressed with.

"I see you are dressed sire," smirked Merlin.

"Of course I am now I wipe that smile of your face Merlin," said Arthur as Merlin put the water into the cup and gave it to Arthur to drink.

"Don't worry sire it's been tried," said Merlin as he began to pick up some of the clothes Arthur had purposely left on the floor for him to do. He placed the clothes he managed to get done back in the wardrobe as Arthur stood up.

"We best go sire or we will be late," Merlin said quite sharply which he didn't really mean to do.

"Yes sire," laughed Arthur as he headed towards the door.

Merlin went to follow but stopped when he spotted Arthur holding a necklace.

"What is that?" asked Merlin forgetting who he was talking too, he didn't really care at this point.
