Chapter 231: So This is What It Feels Like [Part 8]

Dragon Qingyue merely sighed, lifting the teacup she had been drinking from, ready for another sip, when her gaze fell on another cup on the table. It was the cup Ye Wenxin had used, and though it bore no marks, she found herself strangely captivated by it. She picked it up, mimicking how Ye Wenxin drank, gently touching the spot where her lips might have touched.

"So, this is what a kiss feels like," Dragon Qingyue mused. She recalled Ye Wenxin's touch on her legs, the gentle squeeze, and her hand shook more violently as she held the cup.

Her expression remained composed, yet she turned to the black cat, asking, "Precious, should I tell Wenxin about using the forbidden technique?"

The black cat, with its blood-red eyes meant to intimidate, seemed to try hard to convey its cuteness to Dragon Qingyue.

"You might not want to blink like that. It's fine with me, but you'll scare the dark guards into thinking you're hungry for human flesh again."

The cat protested with a disgruntled meow as Dragon Qingyue set the cup down, but she continued to gaze at it. "Perhaps I shouldn't tell Wenxin. If I do... I..."

Her words trailed off, and the cat, uninterested in Dragon Qingyue's mutterings, curled up in a cozy spot to nap.

Elsewhere, after Little Zhang escorted Ye Wenxin back to the inner disciple dormitory, she quickly left without lingering. Ye Wenxin breathed a sigh of relief and headed toward the garden, where she finally understood why Little Zhang hadn't stayed upon seeing Gu Xiangsi.

"Senior Sister Xiangsi." The twist of fate had turned Ye Wenxin, who entered Jin Xiaoqin's tutelage later than Gu Xiangsi, into her junior sister.

Their relationship remained as lukewarm as ever, but lately, Gu Xiangsi seemed to have become more disciplined.

"Why are you getting back so late?" Yet Ye Wenxin realized Gu Xiangsi was merely pretending to be more disciplined; deep down, she was still the same clingy little sister.

"I lost track of time chatting with a friend," Ye Wenxin gave a casual excuse, only for Gu Xiangsi to retort, "I asked Bai Li Mu."

"Maybe I have other friends," Ye Wenxin replied, wary of getting too close for fear of Gu Xiangsi detecting lingering scents on her, especially the metallic tang of blood, which might reveal she'd been involved in a killing.

"I checked with Huang Hanyan as well," Gu Xiangsi continued, listing another name.

"I was with—"

"Long Qing'er, even went to see Master."

Gu Xiangsi effectively exhausted all of Ye Wenxin's excuses, leaving her speechless. Gu Xiangsi, adopting her senior sister persona, chided, "Junior Sister, don't forget our cultivation roots. You can't keep associating with disreputable people."

Her tone was disapproving, and Ye Wenxin, finding it odd, replied, "Xiangsi, can you speak normally? This tone is unbearable."

Gu Xiangsi seemed surprised, eventually clearing her throat and resuming her usual voice, puzzled, "Sis, don't I sound like Fairy Feng Ya when I talk like this?"
