Chapter 1071: [1] Seeking the Queen's Heart, A Sure Win
Ye Wenxin listened intently to the Queen Bee’s instructions. Once the Queen Bee finished speaking, Ye Wenxin couldn’t help but curiously ask, “Mother, aren’t you angry about what I did to her?”
The Queen Bee seemed a bit surprised by the question. She smiled and shared her thoughts.
“I’ve told you before, I once lived in a matriarchal kingdom where women ruled and men were subordinate. As the queen of that kingdom, the only use I had for men was for bearing children. Beyond that, they held no value to me personally. I never believed I could be moved by anyone.”
The Queen Bee reminisced about the past, vividly recalling events from millennia ago. Strangely, however, she had no memory of what Ye Wenxin had done during that time, leaving Ye Wenxin to wonder if her experiences were truly from time travel or merely a fantastical dream caused by the ring.
Carrying her doubts, Ye Wenxin continued listening. The Queen Bee went on, “But the ministers and common people didn’t see it that way. They found joy in having numerous consorts. Even I, as queen, had a harem. Honestly, whether it’s the past or the present, having just one spouse is far from enough.”
The Queen Bee explained her perspective, influenced by such beliefs. Because of this, she didn’t mind Ye Wenxin having many companions. But at the same time, Ye Wenxin couldn’t expect the Queen Bee to focus solely on her. Relationships required mutual understanding—unless the Queen Bee loved her enough to reject all others.
Ye Wenxin doubted her own ability to inspire such devotion. She looked at the Queen Bee, unsure how to express her feelings.
In this world, life stretched on endlessly, making it impossible to predict what lay ahead. Once the Queen Bee left the secret realm, she would begin preparing for ascension, which would cut off her interactions with Ye Wenxin.
A sense of unease crept into Ye Wenxin’s heart. She realized she was worrying about others—an unprecedented feeling she couldn’t quite comprehend.
Seeing Ye Wenxin’s conflicted expression, the Queen Bee chuckled softly.
“Reluctant to part with me?”Ye Wenxin nodded honestly, then said, “Of course I’m reluctant. You didn’t force me to make choices, and I wouldn’t force you to give up yours.”
“Heh, you think too far ahead. But our Zerg race is different. Once we choose to mark someone, it’s for life,” the Queen Bee replied. She seemed pleased with Ye Wenxin’s response and explained the significance of marking.
Ye Wenxin’s face lit up with surprise. She didn’t understand her reliance on the Queen Bee, but the Queen Bee’s hints were clear: even if the Queen Bee ascended, her heart would never accommodate anyone else but Ye Wenxin.
With this assurance, Ye Wenxin felt much more at ease. She realized that as long as she worked hard and ascended herself, she could reunite with the Queen Bee and wouldn’t have to fear being betrayed like the Peach Blossom Immortal once was.
Feeling relaxed, Ye Wenxin let the Queen Bee stroke her hair as she added, “Time is running out. If there’s anything you want me to help with, think quickly.”
Ye Wenxin remembered their original topic and smiled sheepishly. Reflecting on her interactions with various unique women, she realized how rare it was to feel so at ease.
