Chapter 451: What a Small World
Feng Ya Xianzi finally matched the name Liu Churan to the seductive woman before her, drawing closer with astonishing speed. Liu Churan barely blinked before Feng Ya Xianzi stood right in front of her.
Liu Churan wanted to resist, but at that moment where death seemed so close, she almost called out "godmother." She held back, not letting her vulnerability show. At that instant, Liu Churan realized that the renowned Feng Ya Xianzi was far more formidable than her appearance suggested. If it weren't for Feng Ya Xianzi's lack of murderous intent, Liu Churan knew she would already be dead.
Others, unaware of this, assumed Liu Churan and Feng Ya Xianzi were equals, engaging in a silent battle of wills.
Feng Ya Xianzi observed for a few seconds, then commented lightly, "So the secret histories are true."
Liu Churan was taken aback, and Ye Wenxin, who was hurrying to pull Feng Ya Xianzi away, was equally stunned. It wasn't clear how Feng Ya Xianzi knew about Liu Churan's background.
Reflecting on it, Feng Ya Xianzi had previously read the secret histories of Long Qingyue and Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng, where Liu Churan was portrayed as a pitiful figure unable to win her love. The accounts omitted her cruelty and other traits, so perhaps Feng Ya Xianzi still saw her as a pitiable soul.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Liu Churan felt increasingly confused, as if this Feng Ya Xianzi differed entirely from the rumors, giving off a strange vibe.
It seemed like Feng Ya Xianzi was looking at her, yet her gaze held no trace of anyone's shadow.
She was clearly asking the question, but it seemed motivated by some idle curiosity.
"Miss Liu, don't ask. The Xianzi is solely focused on her cultivation and knows nothing of the Demon Sect," Ye Wenxin replied, forcing herself to speak up despite knowing she shouldn't be drawing attention or defending Feng Ya Xianzi. However, her body acted faster than her mind.
It seemed as though, subconsciously, she viewed Feng Ya Xianzi as someone to protect. This realization startled Ye Wenxin, but Liu Churan appeared intrigued by the response, expressing genuine surprise as she continued, "Oh, then tell me, what do you think of me?"
She seemed interested in the answer, and Feng Ya Xianzi, perhaps resonating with this pitiful person, replied simply, "A pitiful person."
Liu Churan paused, then laughed loudly, as if she'd heard the most amusing joke in the world. However, Ye Wenxin saw the laugh as a mask for Liu Churan's forced bravery.
"Hahaha, a pitiful person... There's always something contemptible about a pitiable person," she said, leaving behind a cryptic remark before departing. For some reason, Ye Wenxin felt this would only spur Liu Churan to create greater turmoil.
Watching her leave, Ye Wenxin sighed, feeling both sorrow and regret. Perhaps she should find time to talk to Liu Churan, to prevent her from retracing the Demon Lord's path.
The others, unaware of these intricacies, remained on guard for a potential third wave of attackers as the Demon Sect finally left.
It seemed heaven ignored their prayers, as another group appeared shortly after. Clad in fiery red, they resembled flaming birds descending from the sky.
