Chapter 801: Bullying with a Twist
Ye Wenxin found Liu Churan's change in mindset quite extraordinary. If Liu Churan truly let go, Ye Wenxin wouldn't have to flee to avoid her. It felt as though the heavy burden in her heart was lifted because of Liu Churan's newfound clarity.
"Congratulations, Palace Master Liu, on your new beginning," Ye Wenxin said sincerely, noticing Liu Churan's gaze seemed to hold unspoken words. Feeling a bit uneasy, Ye Wenxin couldn't help but add, "But don't tell me you've given up on Gu Qingcheng because you've fallen for someone else."
Liu Churan smiled lightly, "What do you think?"
"You don't mean me, do you?" Ye Wenxin shivered, feeling uneasy all over.
Liu Churan paused, then burst into laughter, "Ye Wenxin, you're overthinking. How could I possibly like someone as useless as you?"
Liu Churan's mockery, though harsh, clearly indicated how lowly she regarded Ye Wenxin. Something still felt off to Ye Wenxin. "Wait, didn't you just try to kiss me earlier?"
"I was just thinking about how you bullied me before, and I had to return the favor to even the score, right?" Liu Churan replied. Ye Wenxin sensed something amiss with this explanation. Liu Churan beckoned her with a mischievous look, "Do you want to know who I actually like?"
Seeing Liu Churan's sly expression, Ye Wenxin shook her head vehemently, stepping back. "Like whoever you want. Since you're fine, I'll let my mother know we can leave."
With that, Ye Wenxin bolted, fearing Liu Churan might change her mind.
Yet, Liu Churan didn't move, reclining on the bed, still appearing somewhat weak but with a content expression as if she had gained something she never had before.
Outside, Ye Wenxin ran into the returning twin saintesses. They seemed to have washed their faces, their hair and sleeves still damp, looking like they had fled in a rush.
Seeing Ye Wenxin emerge, the saintesses nodded slightly at her before reentering the room, apparently discussing their departure plans.
Despite Ye Wenxin's earlier suspicions about Liu Churan, seeing her proactively planning to leave without any intention of meeting Gu Qingcheng seemed odd to her.
Standing at a safe distance to overhear their conversation, Ye Wenxin was startled by a shadow—Xuan Luofei had appeared.
"Elder Sister Xuan, why aren't you resting more?" Ye Wenxin asked. Xuan Luofei replied, "We've lingered too long in the city. Since everything's resolved and we're uninjured, we should bid farewell and head to Yuejian Mountain."
Xuan Luofei's eagerness to leave suggested she still harbored fears about Gu Qingcheng, avoiding any meeting with her.
It was already noon, so traveling now was feasible. Besides, with Liu Churan also planning to leave, staying in the city served no purpose.
Deciding to bid farewell to Liu Churan, they hoped to catch the mysterious beast before the Spirit Beast Gathering to visit the Beast Park together.
"Are you leaving so soon?"
"Yes, I'm on a mission to find a spirit beast," Xuan Luofei replied calmly. Despite Liu Churan's reluctance, Ye Wenxin felt an odd sense of relief.
