Chapter 921: This Wave Was Totally Worth It~ [Part 2]
"Master, let's go up there," the Ghost Mother suggested, looking at the sky. The moon was obscured by dark clouds, making it an ideal place for the ghost tribe to absorb yin energy. Ye Wenxin nodded and lifted the Ghost Mother.
"Master, don't carry me, I can fly myself!" the Ghost Mother protested, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment at Ye Wenxin's boldness.
"Oh, then go by yourself," Ye Wenxin said, setting her down. The Ghost Mother, initially wanting to struggle, paused, realizing this was typical of Ye Wenxin, and flew up by herself. She found a spot in the sky and began to meditate.
Ye Wenxin called out to the furballs, instructing them to patrol nearby and ward off any passersby. She wasn't sure what a ghost tribe's breakthrough would look like, but she wanted to minimize any potential harm.
The furballs reluctantly went on patrol, while Ye Wenxin took out a golden pen and started inscribing talismans around, setting up a barrier to reduce her presence in the Shengshi Dynasty to a minimum.
She was so focused on the task, more than she had been even during her own breakthroughs. Perhaps it was the lingering presence of the Peach Blossom Demon that unsettled her, or maybe her time with the Ghost Mother had gradually changed her.
Ye Wenxin turned to watch the Ghost Mother, waiting patiently for the breakthrough to happen.
Time passed slowly, and half an hour went by with the Ghost Mother still meditating. Suddenly, a surge of ominous energy erupted from her. Not only that, but it seemed to attract nearby wandering spirits and wild ghosts. They began to gather around the Ghost Mother, howling and shouting, creating a wind that completely blocked out the moonlight.
When Ye Wenxin looked up, she saw the ghosts attempting to cover the moonlight with their combined power. Her expression was complicated, feeling these spirits were like moths to a flame, doomed to perish. Yet, they seemed determined, forming layer upon layer around the Ghost Mother, resembling a wall of ghosts.
The intense malevolent aura made Ye Wenxin frown, despite her preparations with the barrier. She hadn't anticipated such a massive impact. It was certain that Long Qingyue in the Shengshi Dynasty's palace would sense these changes. Sighing, Ye Wenxin continued to wield her golden pen, inscribing a large seal to reinforce the barrier, preventing the disturbance from drawing too much attention.
Meanwhile, the wandering spirits were oblivious to Ye Wenxin's desire to keep a low profile. They continued to amass, finally completely blocking the moonlight. The spirits, weak and on the brink of fading, supported one another. Just as Ye Wenxin found the scene somewhat touching, she witnessed the stronger ghosts begin to devour the weaker ones, transforming as they consumed more.
Another half hour passed, and only four ghosts remained, having transformed into ghost kings after devouring countless souls. They gained sentience, exchanging glances filled with emotion. Just as Ye Wenxin pondered what kind of ritual was unfolding, the Ghost Mother opened her eyes.
The four ghost kings immediately bowed to her, their eyes filled with reverence. The Ghost Mother mumbled something unintelligible, and the ghost kings nodded, transforming into four orbs of light. The Ghost Mother swallowed them without hesitation. The ground trembled, and she let out a roar, her eyes glowing as her form shed, revealing a figure similar to the Ghost Mother.
