Y/N's POV

The end of the school year was creeping closer, and every second with Draco felt like borrowed time. Once we left Hogwarts for the summer, everything would change. I didn't know what his father had planned, but I could feel it lingering like a storm on the horizon.

That's why tonight mattered so much.

I tightened my cloak around me as I slipped into the shadowed edge of the Forbidden Forest. Draco had insisted on meeting here—our secret spot just past the clearing. The air was crisp, the quiet hum of the forest broken only by the occasional rustle of leaves.

When I reached the clearing, Draco was already there, leaning against a tree with his hands in his pockets. He looked up as I approached, a faint smile playing on his lips.

"You're late," he teased, though his tone was soft.

"I thought I'd keep you waiting," I replied with a smirk, stepping closer. "Build the suspense."

He chuckled, his smile fading slightly as he took my hand. "I'm glad you came."

"I always will," I said, squeezing his fingers.

Draco's POV

The forest felt colder tonight, the shadows darker. I tried to push the unease aside, focusing on Y/N instead. This was supposed to be our night—one last memory before the summer. Before... everything.

I knew she felt it too. The weight of what was coming. Her smile didn't reach her eyes the way it usually did, and when she laughed, there was a fragility to it.

"We'll have more nights like this, you know," she said suddenly, her voice firm as if willing it to be true.

I wanted to believe her, but my father's threats loomed too large in my mind. Instead of answering, I pulled her closer, resting my forehead against hers. "Let's not think about tomorrow," I murmured. "Just tonight."

She nodded, her arms wrapping around me. For a moment, the rest of the world disappeared.

Y/N's POV

The sound came out of nowhere—a low, guttural growl that sent shivers down my spine.

Draco stiffened, his hand moving instinctively to his wand. "Did you hear that?"

I nodded, gripping my own wand tightly. The growl came again, closer this time. The shadows seemed to shift, and suddenly, the clearing felt far less safe.

"Draco..."

Before I could finish, something lunged from the darkness—a massive creature with glowing eyes and razor-sharp claws.

"Get down!" Draco shouted, pulling me to the ground as the beast swiped at the air where I'd been standing.

Draco's POV

The creature—whatever it was—was relentless. Its black fur seemed to absorb the moonlight, making it nearly invisible in the shadows. I fired a stunning spell, but it barely staggered.

"Y/N, go!" I yelled, but she didn't listen.

"Not a chance," she shot back, her wand blazing with light as she cast a spell that sent the creature reeling.

We moved as one, our spells weaving together in a desperate dance. Finally, the beast let out a piercing howl and vanished into the darkness.

Panting, I turned to Y/N. Her hair was wild, her cheeks flushed, and there was a fierce determination in her eyes. "Are you okay?" I asked, stepping closer.

She nodded, her breath shaky. "You?"

"Fine," I said, though my heart was still racing.

Her hand found mine, and she held on tightly. "What was that thing?"

"Doesn't matter," I said, my voice low. "It's gone now."

Y/N's POV

As we stood there, the forest unnervingly quiet around us, I realized how close I'd come to losing him tonight.

"Draco," I said softly, pulling him into a hug. He wrapped his arms around me, holding me like he never wanted to let go.

"This can't keep happening," he murmured against my hair.

I pulled back, searching his face. "What do you mean?"

"Us sneaking around like this," he said. "It's dangerous. You're in danger because of me."

"Don't," I said firmly, taking his face in my hands. "Tonight doesn't change anything. I'm not walking away, Draco. Not now, not ever."

His eyes softened, and he kissed me—soft and slow, as if savoring the moment. When he pulled back, his forehead rested against mine. "I don't deserve you"

"Ahh well, you're stuck with me," I replied with a small smile.

Draco's POV

As we made our way back toward the castle, I couldn't shake the thought of my father's letter. The summer was coming, and with it, the weight of his expectations.

But tonight, as Y/N's hand slipped into mine, I let myself believe—for just a moment—that we could make it through. Together.
