Y/N's POV

When Professor Snape summoned Draco and me to his office again, I couldn't help but feel uneasy. The previous encounter had been surprising, even almost gentle. But this time, something in his tone as he called us after Potions felt different—heavier.

Draco walked beside me, his expression as unreadable as ever, though I knew him well enough to see the tension in the set of his jaw.

As we entered Snape's dimly lit office, the familiar scent of parchment and potions filled the air. Snape stood behind his desk, his hands clasped behind his back. His piercing gaze swept over us, making me feel small, like a child caught sneaking biscuits.

"You two seem incapable of heeding a simple warning," he began, his voice low but sharp.

"Professor, we—" Draco started, but Snape silenced him with a raised hand.

"You will let me finish," he said curtly, his dark eyes narrowing. "Do you have any idea the risk you are both taking? Not just for yourselves but for others?"

I swallowed hard, guilt pressing down on my chest. I knew he was right, but the thought of walking away from Draco wasn't something I could bear.

Draco's POV

Snape's words cut deep, not because they were harsh, but because they were true. I'd been reckless, letting my emotions guide me instead of my better judgment. But how could I stay away from Y/N? She was the only thing in my life that made sense anymore.

"You think Lucius will sit idly by while you make a mockery of everything he values?" Snape continued, his voice colder now. "If he finds a way to use this against either of you, he will not hesitate."

I clenched my fists at my sides, anger bubbling beneath the surface. "I'm not afraid of my father."

Snape's expression didn't change, but his eyes darkened. "Then you are a fool," he said quietly. "Fear is not the issue here. It is survival."

Y/N's POV

"Professor, we're being careful," I said, my voice trembling slightly.

"Careful?" he repeated, his tone dripping with disdain. "Sneaking off into the forest, engaging in reckless behavior—this is your definition of careful?"

I opened my mouth to reply, but he cut me off again. "Enough."

For a moment, there was silence, and then his tone shifted, becoming almost reflective. "The two of you have made your choice, foolish as it may be. But if you insist on walking this path, you must understand the consequences. And you must be prepared."

His eyes lingered on me for a long moment, and then he turned to a small drawer in his desk. From it, he pulled a delicate silver locket. The metal gleamed faintly in the low light, and my breath caught as he placed it on the desk before me.

"This belonged to Lily," he said quietly, his voice softening in a way I'd never heard before.

My heart ached at the mention of my mother's name. "Why are you giving this to me?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

Snape's gaze flickered to Draco, then back to me. "Because you remind me of her. And because, like her, you are too stubborn to know when to walk away."

There was something raw in his tone, something that made my throat tighten.

Draco's POV

The locket was simple, but its meaning was heavy. I watched as Y/N picked it up, her fingers trembling slightly.

"Thank you," she said softly, her voice thick with emotion.

Snape straightened, the moment of vulnerability gone as quickly as it had appeared. "Do not thank me," he said coldly. "This is not a gift. It is a reminder of what is at stake."

He turned to me, his expression hardening. "And you, Draco, need to learn control. If you truly care for her, you will start thinking of the consequences."

I nodded, though his words stung. "I understand, Professor."

"Do you?" he asked sharply, his eyes boring into mine. "Because if you fail, you will not be the only one to pay the price."
