Y/N's POV
The first light of dawn filtered through the curtains of my dorm room, casting a soft glow over the space. Draco was still asleep, curled up beside me on the bed. The events of last night felt like a blur—the fight with Harry, the anger, the hurt. But Draco's presence beside me brought me a sense of calm, a reminder that, despite everything, we still had each other.
I glanced over at him, his features softened in sleep. It was hard to believe everything that had happened in such a short time. Harry, Hermione, Ron—they had no idea what it was like for me, torn between family and the person I loved.
As quietly as I could, I slipped out of bed, not wanting to wake Draco just yet. I pulled on my robes and made my way to the window.
The morning air was crisp as I watched Draco's figure slip out of the window. He was already preparing to leave for the final breakfast of the term. A part of me wished I could stay in this moment, just the two of us, but reality beckoned.
Draco's POV
I took a deep breath as I stood outside the window, my hands gripping the ledge. The air was cool, and the weight of the past few days pressed heavily on my chest. But I couldn't let that stop me from doing what I had to do. I had to face the world—and face Harry.
But before that, I needed to talk to Y/N.
I made my way toward the Great Hall, the sounds of students bustling around me. It was strange to be back in this familiar space with everything feeling so different. I caught sight of Y/N just as she entered the hall. She had her head down, clearly avoiding the golden trio.
"Y/N!" I called out, catching her attention.
Her eyes softened when she saw me, and she walked over, her pace quickening.
"I thought you were going to leave without me," I said, smiling faintly.
Y/N shook her head. "I wouldn't do that."
I hesitated, then said something I never thought I'd say. "You should talk to Harry."
She looked at me, confused. "What?"
"Talk to him," I repeated. "He's your brother. I don't want to be the reason you lose him."
Y/N sighed, her gaze dropping to the floor. "I don't know if I can fix this, Draco. He's so angry at me."
"I know," I said gently, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "But you can't just avoid him forever."
Y/N bit her lip, clearly conflicted. "You're right," she finally said. "I'll talk to him."
"Promise me you'll give him time," I urged. "He'll come around, eventually."
She nodded, though her expression remained clouded with doubt. "Okay. I'll go pack up my things. I'll talk to him after that."
Y/N's POV
I made my way back to my dorm, the weight of the upcoming conversation with Harry pressing down on me. It felt like everything was changing—faster than I could keep up with. I wasn't sure what to expect from him, but I knew I had to try.
Just as I started packing my things, I heard a knock at the door.
"Y/N?" Harry's voice came through, hesitant.
I walked over and opened the door. Harry stood there, his face conflicted, his eyes filled with uncertainty.
"Can we talk?" he asked softly.
I stepped aside, allowing him to enter. "I didn't think you'd want to talk to me."
"I don't know what to think anymore," Harry said, running a hand through his messy hair. "I don't understand why you didn't tell me about him—about Draco."
I swallowed hard, taking a deep breath. "I didn't know how to. I knew you'd never accept it."
"That's not the point!" Harry's voice rose, but he quickly took a breath to calm himself. "I don't care if it's Draco or anyone else—I care about you, Y/N. But you lied to me. You kept this from me."
"I didn't want to hurt you," I said, my voice trembling.
"You already have." Harry's voice softened. "But what I don't get is why him. After everything, why Draco Malfoy?"
"I didn't choose him to hurt you, Harry," I said, tears welling in my eyes. "I care about him. I love him."
Harry flinched, as though the words stung. "You really love him?"
"I do," I whispered.
"Then you need to end it," Harry insisted, his voice breaking. "You can't be with him. He's dangerous, Y/N. He's always been dangerous."
"I won't end it, Harry," I said firmly, meeting his gaze. "I can't. I love him, and I need you to understand that."
Harry's face contorted in frustration. "I can't just forget what he's done to us—what his family's done."
I closed my eyes, trying to hold back the sob that threatened to escape. "I know, but you have to understand that it's not just about his family. It's about me, and about how I feel."
A heavy silence hung between us. Finally, Harry sighed, his shoulders slumping. "I don't know if I can accept it, but I'll give you time. I just... I need some space from you right now."
I nodded, my heart breaking. "I understand."
Hermione's POV
After Harry left, I knocked on Y/N's door. She opened it, her eyes red from crying.
"Hey," I said softly, stepping inside. "Are you okay?"
Y/N shook her head, wiping her eyes. "No. Harry... he's not happy. He's angry at me."
"I know," Hermione said, her voice filled with sympathy. "But he'll come around. He just needs time."
"I don't know if I can wait that long," Y/N whispered.
"You don't have to," Hermione replied, wrapping her arms around Y/N. "Just give him time. He'll understand. And if he doesn't, at least you'll know you tried."
Y/N nodded, leaning into Hermione's hug.
"I'm sorry, Hermione," Y/N whispered.
"You don't have to apologize," Hermione said softly. "You're just following your heart. That's all anyone can do."
Y/N smiled weakly. "Thanks, Hermione."
"Anytime," Hermione said, squeezing her tighter. "Now, go talk to Draco. Everything will be okay. I promise."
