Y/N's POV
The morning sun streamed through the Gryffindor common room windows, but the warmth didn't reach me. I could feel Harry's gaze boring into me as I sat beside Hermione, pretending to focus on my half-finished Defense Against the Dark Arts essay. It wasn't the first time I'd felt him watching me recently."Y/N," Harry's voice was sharp, cutting through the quiet hum of the room. "Can I talk to you?"
I glanced at Hermione, who gave me a subtle nod, silently encouraging me. I hesitated but stood up, following Harry into a corner away from prying ears.
"What's going on with you?" he demanded, his green eyes searching mine. "You've been sneaking off, acting weird... It's like you're hiding something."
My heart raced. I'd known this confrontation was coming, but I wasn't ready. "I'm not hiding anything, Harry," I said, trying to sound casual.
He crossed his arms, his brows furrowed. "Don't lie to me. You've been slipping away after classes, disappearing at odd hours. Hermione says it's none of my business, but you're my sister. I have a right to know if something's wrong."
I hated the concern in his voice because it only made the guilt weigh heavier. "Harry, it's nothing," I insisted, forcing a smile. "I've just needed some space. Everything's fine."
He didn't look convinced. "You're not telling me the truth," he said quietly. "I can feel it."
Before I could respond, Hermione appeared, placing a calming hand on Harry's shoulder. "Harry, give her some time," she said gently. "Y/N's allowed to have her secrets. You can't force her to share everything with you."
Harry looked between us, his jaw tightening. "Fine," he muttered. "But don't think I'm just going to let this go."
As he walked away, I let out a shaky breath, grateful for Hermione's intervention.
"That was close," I whispered.
Hermione gave me a meaningful look. "Y/N, you can't keep this up forever. He's going to find out eventually."
I nodded, my stomach churning. I just hoped that when he did, it wouldn't destroy everything.
Harry's POV
I knew Y/N wasn't being honest with me. She'd always been secretive, but this was different. She was avoiding me, slipping away when she thought I wasn't looking. Something was going on, and I wasn't about to let it slide.
After dinner, I decided to follow her. She left the Great Hall earlier than usual, glancing over her shoulder as she slipped out the door.
I waited a few moments before getting up, making an excuse to Ron and Hermione about needing to check something in the library.
My feet carried me down the dimly lit corridors, keeping a safe distance behind her. She turned a corner, and I quickened my pace, careful to stay out of sight.
Then, I saw her. Y/N stood in the shadows near the entrance to the Astronomy Tower, her back to me. My heart dropped when another figure emerged from the darkness—Draco Malfoy.
They didn't notice me as I pressed myself against the wall, peering around the corner. I watched as Malfoy reached for her hand, his usually smug expression replaced by something softer, almost tender.
"Are you alright?" he asked her, his voice low.
She nodded, smiling up at him in a way I'd never seen before. "I'm fine, Draco. Just... worried Harry's going to figure everything out."
Malfoy's hand cupped her cheek, and my blood boiled. "Let him," he said softly. "I don't care anymore. As long as I have you."
I clenched my fists, barely able to process what I was seeing. Y/N and Malfoy? It didn't make any sense.
And then, the final blow. Y/N leaned up and kissed him, her hands tangling in his robes as if they were the only two people in the world.
Something inside me snapped. Turning away, I stumbled back down the corridor, my mind racing.
I didn't want to see any more.
Y/N's POV
After our kiss, I rested my forehead against Draco's, feeling the tension melt away. "I should go," I whispered.
He nodded, his thumb brushing against my hand. "I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Of course," I replied, smiling as I turned to leave.
