"What have you done? Why did you ruin everything? Our story was a fairytale dream come true."
She kept thrashing her arms on the door with full force, only for her pleas to fall on deaf ears. Her wedding bangles broke and fell, her wrists bled and h...
Days went by, and slowly, everything became a forgotten memory.
Rudra was busy preparing for the UPSC Entrance examinations. He barely got time to think about anything else.
The party affairs were still handled by him unofficially, since his father was in prison. But he had withdrawn his name from all documents and official registers.
He, in no means, wanted to be affiliated to his father or to his doomed party.
He had also recently gotten the news that his father's health was deteriorating, but he was given no treatment or even leaves for the same.
He cared deeply for his mother and Kalyani's as well. She shouldn't suffer for no fault of hers. He made sure that the women around him were cherished, respected and adored.
But apart from studies, he was also working on himself. Mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
He wanted change himself completely. When he met Kalyani again, he wanted to surprise her.
He no longer wanted to be the Rudra she remembered.
In her absence, he did miss her.
But he knew there was only one way to get back to her.
Karma.

“Rudra, the results are being declared. Did you check yours?”
His mother's voice was filled with excitement. And although he hadn't checked the results yet, he was confident about his selection.
His mother looked at him. He was getting ready in formal clothes, and a completely different style than his normal attire.
“Are you heading out somewhere?” She asked him abruptly.
He was wearing a clean, crisp, blue shirt with half sleeves and black trousers. He wore a waistcoat over them, completely formal and different from his otherwise kurta sets he used to wear for his political advents.
He looked like a true, gentleman. A grown up man rather. Completely westernised.
“Yes, I need a grooming session.”
He headed out first and went straight to the first tattoo studio he saw.
I need to first get rid of my fears. Let's start from the first - my fear of needles. Yes it will pain but it's necessary. Because any physical pain is the removal of bad karma. And this pain is nothing to what Kalyani has given me.
He picked up his choice from a plethora of different designs. It was a Dumroo, the holy drum of Lord Shiva which played the celestial sound of Aum.
Next, he went for a dentist appointment. For many years, he had thought about fixing his crooked teeth but never paid attention to them fully.
But now was the time to step up. He had to get braces.
It didn't matter to him. No matter how much the physical pain would break him, he no more felt shattered deep inside.
For his soul felt dead.
He had turned purely ruthless and cold. He was no longer the shy Rudra.
But the bold one.
Whose wrath was feared by everyone.

“So, what makes you want to join the IAS?”
The interviewer asked him.
Contrary to what he had believed, his interview session went quite buttersmooth.
Maybe because they knew about his roots and history, so they didn't dare to question him unfairly or throw difficult scenarios at him.
But also because his aura was too vindictive and spine chilling. And even from a distance, any man would feel scared of him.
“Justice. This system needs to be changed.” His voice was crisp and clear as he spoke. He had even worked on his oratory skills in the past few months.
“Any field you personally would like to cater to?” They asked him the last question.
“I feel the medical institutions need proper audits.” He was well prepared with every answer.
They cut short any small talks and came straight to the point.
“IAS Rudra Chauhan, you can join your office from the coming week.”
He thanked them and went back home, eager for this new chapter in his life.
He was stepping into his new version, leaving behind the old, not caring about any human now.
Especially those who had dared to defy his love and stepped over his self respect.
