Chapter 14: Tension Rises.

As much as Rebecca is an old friend and I've known her for forever now, and she was there for allot of us I am still pissed off at her for blaming us for trying to possibly make her happy, we might have been wanting to set her up so she can try misery at some point but also experience the good in it, she won't ever know that. "Jennifer, let it go, you'll not just cause trouble with her and Lucas but also with us, again.", Andrea told me, "Let them be Jennifer.", she added, "Andrea you don't understand. All my life I've known Rebecca and she was happier than me, she always found a way to be happy even at her worst. I try to be like that and I can't.", I told her, "Just because she knows how to stay positive doesn't mean you should ruin it for her.", Andrea stated, "Jennifer, please, you, Rebecca, and Lucas have known each other for so long, why ruin it now ?", she asked, "You can't fix yourself by breaking someone else.", she said, "You're sounding like her now.", I walked away to the door, "I am not sounding like anyone Jennifer. I am just tired of those problems. If she doesn't want to date, then leave it at that, maybe it is a not a meant-to-be for her. Besides, I would kill for a friendship as long as yours with Rebecca, you're just ruining everything for everyone Jennifer.", she said, I went silent and then I left.

I went to Collins Co. where Lucas works and I needed to have a word with him, "Hello Lucas.", I greeted, "Hello Jennifer.", he greeted, "Its nice to see you after so long, sorry if we didn't get the chance to hangout when you arrived, I was busy doing some work.", I told him, "Its okay, do you need anything ?", he asked, "I was free so I thought I would drop by and say hello.", I told him. We started talking back from high school days, it feels good to remember the good times when you were younger and careless.

"So, Lucas, I have something for you.", I began, its time to bring them down, "What is it ?", he had a confused look on his face, "I want you to take Rebecca out.", I told him, "We always hangout.", he said, "Not that hangout, Lucas, another type, if you know what I mean.", I hinted, he frowned for a minute before he realized, "A date ?", he asked, I nodded, "I can't do that.", he said, "Why not ?", I asked, "Because 1. I know she is not interested in dating at all. 2. She told me about her date with some guy and as much as he was sweet to her she rejected him and they never spoke. 3. She is my best friend Jennifer, I wouldn't risk it." he stated, "Lucas you need to have some fun in your life, take her out on one date, there's no harm in that.", I told him, "How about you stay out of my love life and what not of it and get back to your work ?", he said, I got up and walked to his desk, "Listen Lucas, I know you have feelings for her, its obvious since you came here. You don't want to ask her because you are afraid yourself from rejection.", I told him, "Jennifer if you don't know where the exit is I would happily let the security escort you out.", he said, "Suit yourself Porter.", I grabbed my bag and I left and while I was on my way out, Rebecca passed by.

I saw Jennifer leave Luke's office and head out, she shoulder bumped me and fired a death glare at me, I just looked at her in despise. I never thought my long time best friend would do this at some point.

I knocked on Luke's office's door and peaked in, "Luke ?", I called, "Hey.", he greeted, "Hey.", I greeted back, I entered and I sat on his desk, he was facing the city's skyline, "Why do you look paler than those clouds Luke ?", I asked, "Jennifer was here.", he said, "I know, I ran into her just now.", I told him, "Did she want something ?", I asked, he was silent for a minute, he turned around to face me, he looks good in a suit, 'Snap out of it Rebecca.', my conscience rang in my head again, "She wanted me to take you out on a date.", he faded, he seems like he's not comforted with the idea, I don't care about any dates, I am not interested, but he looks mad about it, "And ?", I asked, "And...?", he shrugged, "Can't you see what she is trying to do ?", he asked, I went silent for a minute, "Set me up again because she knows we wouldn't stay friends after that.", I concluded, "Rebs don't get me wrong, I'm sure a date with you would be great, but I wouldn't ask you that.", he said, "Yea, I know, I wouldn't have gone for it eitherways so...", I faded, "So you're not mad at me ?", he asked, "Why would I ?", I asked, "For letting her suggest that idea.", he said, "Its her fault, Luke, not yours, just ignore her.", I told him, we shared a hug before we get to talk about some other stuff during my free time.
