Chapter 25: Sick Hearts.

Tired. Weak. Almost paralyzed. I woke up to a faint smell of something cooking and I remembered Luke stayed over last night when we were watching movies. I got out of bed with a miracle, and I mean it, I don't know what is wrong with me but I can't move, I probably looked like a mess right now.

I got out and I leaned against the wall for support, the world was spinning around me and I felt like something was pulling me back from walking. I got to the kitchen and I was greeted by Luke, "Good morning sleepy head.", he greeted, I was silent, I didn't greet back, I leaned against the granite table in the kitchen, "You look pale, is there something wrong ?", he asked, the image in front of me started going blurry, "Lucas...", I muttered and I hit the cold, hard ground.

(Lucas)

I saw Rebecca fall down and I rushed to her, "Rebecca ?", I shook her gently and I put my the back of my hand on her forehead, she is on fire, "My God Rebs, not now.", I turned off everything in the kitchen and I carried her to my car. My waist still hurts when I bend down but she just fainted in front of me.

I drove as fast as I can to the hospital and I rushed inside with her in my arms. Some nurses rushed to us with a gurney and carried her to the ICU and I had to wait outside and answer some questions. Oh well, might as well wait to remove the cast and the stitches, it has been 2 weeks already. Thinking about it, so much has happened in 2 weeks if you ask me.

A nurse came later and escorted me into Rebecca's room, it wasn't a private room or anything, there were like 5 other beds but the place was empty. "How is she ?", I asked the nurse, "Its just common sickness, her temperature is high and she is weak. She needs to eat and get good rest. She has to stay here until tonight to check on her.", the nurse explained, "Okay.", I nodded, "Are you family ?", she asked, "Just a friend.", I told her and I took a seat next to the sleeping Rebecca. I felt bad for her, she didn't look so well yesterday either, no wonder.

It was 9 pm now, before Rebecca moved a bit and fluttered her eyes open, I didn't know she could sleep for 12 hours solid, "Hey there.", I greeted her with a grin, she took in a deep breath, "What happened ?", she muttered, "You fainted. You're sick with temperature and all that common sickness.", I told her, she tried sitting up but failed, "Take it easy Rebs, you're weak.", I told her, "Yea I noticed.", she just managed the cutest, slightest grin I have ever seen, I smiled at her and I moved the bed's upper half a bit more up for her to be a bit comfortable. A nurse came in a minute later, "Welcome back Sleeping Beauty.", the nurse greeted, I couldn't agree less on the title she gave Rebecca, "How are you feeling ?", she asked her, "A bit better, I guess.", Rebecca answered, "The medicine is doing its job, I'll come later and check up on you.", and she left.

Its 1 am now, Rebecca was good to go now but before we leave we made a stop at my doctor to remove the stitches and the cast, "You might want to see how your waist looks like now.", the doctor got a small mirror and directed it towards my waist, I was impressed, it didn't take much time to heal, "Thanks doc.", I told him and I left.

As we headed to the elevator we ran into Kelsey and Thomas, "Tomsey!", I greeted, "Hey.", they greeted, "What's wrong ?", asked Rebecca, "Just a check up on Kelsey, she is due in days now.", Tom said cheerfully, despite that he is becoming a father for the third time now it still excites him. "I forgot my belt back there, you go down and I'll catch up.", I told Rebecca and she left with Kelsey and Tom.

(Rebecca)

"You look pale Rebecca.", Kelsey pointed out, "Thank you very much.", I joked, "Sorry, I hope you're okay.", she said, "Thanks.", I told her. We were on the way down in the elevator until it shakes and stops, "You have got to be kidding me.", I said, "Did it just stop ?", Kelsey asked and she had this look of worry she had when the boys trapped us in the elevator back at Hayden's company, "I think it did.", Thomas said, "Oh my God.", Kelsey was on the verge of panicking, "Kelsey calm down.", I told her, it was me, Kelsey, Thomas, and some nurse with a moving shelf of medical equipment, "Please stay calm.", the nurse said.

30 minutes later the speaker in the elevator goes on, "Rebecca ? Thomas ?", this is Luke, Thomas grabbed the telephone in the elevator and spoke up, "Luke ?", he called, "How is it with you guys ? You okay ?", Luke asked, "We're fine, Kelsey doesn't look good though, Rebecca is trying to help her out.", he told him, "Technicians are trying to get the elevator to work, just hold on okay ?", Luke said and he hung up, "Thomas.", I called him, he turned around to meet his wife's water break, "Are you serious ? Now ?!", he was panicking more than Kelsey was, "Stop screaming and shut the hell up!", Kelsey snapped at him, "Calm down Kelsey, panicking won't do any good.", I told her, she slid down on the elevator floor and the nurse attended to her, "Its okay miss, just breathe.", she told her, "Thomas get your butt next to your wife.", I demanded, I was sitting down on the elevator floor just next to the door while Kelsey was on the other side of the door across from me and she wasn't looking good. "Can you help her ?", Thomas asked the nurse, "She is not fully dilated, she has to wait.", the nurse said, "I can't wait!", Kelsey's ear piercing scream filled the elevator and it made me more tired, "Oh my God, Kelsey it would be greatly appreciated if you don't scream that loud.", I told her, "Shut up Rebecca!", she let out another scream and I could have sworn the world was spinning all over until Luke's voice though the speaker kept me awake, "Rebecca ? Stay awake Rebs!", he called and I just couldn't handle so much noise and I blacked out again.

"Rebecca ?!", I heard faint voices call me, "Rebecca ?!", a voice called again but I blacked out again.

I woke up in a cool room with an IV stuck to my hand. I was so weak right now, weaker than earlier today. "Lucas...", I muttered, "Rebecca ?", I saw a familiar face in front of me, I blinked a few times to adjust the image in front of me and its Luke, "Luke.", I muttered again, "Hey there.", he greeted lightly, "What happened ?", I asked, "Kelsey's screams gave you a headache and the small place with 3 other people made it hard for you to breathe.", he explained, "How long did it take for you to take us out ?", I was taking breaths between every word and two, I was exhausted, "An hour and 30 minutes.", he said, I gave him a 'Seriously ?' look, "And I didn't die ?", I asked jokingly, he chuckled, "I'm glad that didn't happen.", he smiled, his smile faded and he held my hand and rubbed the back of my hand, "I was so worried Rebs.", he said, "Sorry for freaking you out.", I grinned, he smiled.

I went back home and Luke didn't leave my side for one second. He would insist I get rest immediately and eat well. He even said there should be a surprise any day later.
