Chapter 16: Annual Leave.

I woke up in the morning wrecked, and it wasn't even morning, it was 12 pm, I overslept and I didn't feel like going to work today. Besides, my actual annual leave was tomorrow so I will just take the opportunity of today to pack my things up and head to California to stay with my mother, I have 2 older brothers too, Race is the eldest and Raiden is the second, I am the youngest of them.

I packed everything quickly and I packed some stuff for Blue too, I was taking him with me. I got dressed and I headed to the company to finish some things and to put someone in charge while I was gone, most probably Kate.

"Good Afternoon Ms. Forde.", Kate greeted, "Hello Kate, come to my office for a minute please.", I told her, she followed. I sat down and I started going through papers, "Alright, I'm going for my annual leave this year, and I need someone in charge.", I began, "Do you want me to tell the manager to take care of things ?", she asked, "No, Kate, I want you to be in charge while I'm gone.", I told her, "But, Ms. Forde, I am not qualified to take care of a company, I'm only a secretary.", she said, "Yea, I know, which is why I want you to take care of things while I'm gone. Any gatherings for the next three months you attend them but don't answer so much on my behalf and don't reveal company secrets.", I told her, "And if there are any papers you put them in a file and keep them with you, and if you need anything or something happened just call me.", I added, "Okay Ms. Forde.", she nodded, "I'm counting on you Kate.", I told her, "I won't let you down.", she said, "Good.", I got up and left her in my office. Kate Reynolds, a 19 year old girl, still in college, she came to me when I first started this company and asked for a simple job, so I gave her the secretary position since she was the first to apply to it, and she had an outstanding performance for a second year in college. She was my height, cherry blonde hair, green eyes, she was probably the youngest in my company, she is a nice girl too, I've hung out with her a few times, understanding and smart.

I got home and I put my things into a taxi and I was ready to head to the airport, I stood in the building's corridor staring at Luke's apartment, I was thinking to go an talk to him but I know for sure he wouldn't open the door for me, so I just left it at that.

I got to the airport and finished all the arrangements that needed to be done, Blue was put in a cage and taken to the animal cargo, they better take good care of him. All I had to do now was wait.

I have never been so wrecked because of a girl like this in my whole life. I can't hate her, I can't forget about her, and I simply cannot avoid her for so long. I would have to apologize for spilling so much in front of her then ignoring her. But I also can't face her like this, not after what I've done, "I'm so sorry Rebecca.", I whispered to myself, she probably hates me right now.

I didn't go to work today, didn't feel like it, even Hayden expected me not to show up and he even sent me a message saying 'I know you're wrecked since yesterday so if you don't show up to work I wouldn't be surprised or mad, take all the time you need man.' , I sat in the living room and did absolutely nothing, what if I talked to Rebecca about it ? Maybe we can fix things, maybe we can figure out a way.

I got up and I went to her apartment only to see a note hung on the door;

Annual leave, call if in need x

That's all the small note said, her annual leave is 3 months, she is leaving for 3 months to God knows where and I just pissed her off the night after, great job Lucas, you just drove the love of your life away. I took out my phone and went to Rebecca's chat, it wasn't a new chat, I still kept the texts she sent when I left pleading me to answer and I didn't. I started typing and after I was done I was hesitant to press send and let her see the message. I kept staring at the little paragraph I wrote and took a deep breath in, "She is worth fighting for.", I told myself and I sent it. All I have to do is wait now.
