Chapter 22: Its High School all over.

(Lucas)

I was a bit better now, the wound didn't hurt me as much as before and I was walking just fine. Just a week more and I can remove the cast and the stitches. As for today, Rebecca and I were going to attend a high school reunion. We managed to book a flight to California and back just in 3 days, weekend basically. "Are you ready ?", Rebecca asked, she went to her apartment to get ready and she looked stunning, she really knows how to rock a red, strapless dress, "I can't take off my shirt because it requires for me to stretch up.", I told her, "I'll help you.", she got closer and helped me take off my shirt, her cheeks fired up immediately, I chuckled, but then the redness in her cheeks faded as she traced her fingers to my wounded waist, "Does it hurt ?", she asked, "No.", I shook my head, "Not when you're touching it.", I added, her cheeks reddened up again, I smiled. We were going to leave the plane and immediately head to our old high school, its 7 am right now and our flight is in 2 hours.

We boarded the plane and we were now on the way to Anaheim, California. Rebecca invited me to stay with her in her mother's house, I didn't mind, neither did her mother or her brothers. I was actually pretty close to all of them. We were sitting in the first row of the business class in the corner, so we were basically alone, and it wasn't that crowded. "You look beautiful.", I complimented her, "Thanks.", she fired a smile, I haven't seen her smile in days, its gorgeous.

(Rebecca)

We got to my house and my mother greeted us, "Its so good to see you again darling, she hugged me, "Mom you remember Lucas Porter ?", I asked, "Oh my, Lucas, you look so handsome. Its good to see you again.", she said, he smiled, "How's your mother ?", she asked, "She's good, she sends her greetings.", he told her, "What happened to your leg ?", my mom asked, "Its no biggie, a slight fracture.", he told her, "Well, I just prepared lunch, would you like to join us ?", she asked, "I'd love to Mrs. Forde.", he smiled, "Lucas!", my brothers yelled, "Race, Raiden!", they shared a brotherly hug which literally crushed Luke since he still has an injury in his waist, "Careful the waist.", he warned them, "What happened ?", Race asked, "I got hit by a speeding car, its only a week more before I remove the stitches.", he told them, "Get well soon man.", Race told him, "Daddy ?", James got up from the couch, he was wearing his pjs and he held on to the teddy bear I got him when he was first born, "James, hey there little buddy, come here.", James walked to his dad, Race lifted him up, "Lucas, meet my son, James. James, this is Lucas.", he introduced the two, "Hi uncle Lucas.", the sleepy kid greeted as he rubbed his eyes, "Hey, you can just call me Luke buddy.", Luke smiled. "Its good to see you Luke.", Raiden greeted him, "You too Raiden.", they smiled, my brother and Luke spent so much time together after we met, they were inseparable that time.

After having a decent lunch, we were sitting in the living room right now just watching some T.V., "Luke.", I called he turned heads to me, "Jennifer is going to be there.", I told him, "So ?", he asked, "I'll have to face her and her criticism.", I said, "Just ignore her.", he said, "Yea but Luke people know me and her to be best friends until now probably, she just ruined everything.", I told him, "Hey, I'm with you, she won't dare come near you.", he assured me, "You're injured Luke, if she pushes you away from me you won't be able to get up properly.", I told him, "Rebs I may be injured and a wreck but that won't stop me form standing up for you and with you.", he said, "I told you before, you're worth every fight.", he reminded me.

We headed to Cali High and it looked just the same, "You ready ?", Luke asked, "Yea.", I nodded, and we walked in. There was a sign just above the entrance, "Class of 2006 Reunion!". We entered and we headed to the gym, and we saw allot of familiar faces, "We'll split, I'll meet you here after we're done.", Luke told me and so I walked through the crowd, "Rebecca Forde ?", someone called, I turn around and I see a blonde woman with familiar blue eyes, "Lilly West ?", I asked, "Oh my God, Rebecca!", she embraced me with a hug, she didn't look one bit different, "I missed you so much.", she said, "I missed you too.", I told her, "Girls! Its Rebecca Forde!", she called to 2 other girls, a ginger-head and another one with black hair, "Jane Maxfield.", I hugged the ginger-head, "Its good to see you Becs.", she greeted, "Kendall Reese.", "Nice to see you again Becs.", we shared a hug, those girls were in my biology class for my entire high school days, we were grouped together to the point we seemed like we were inseparable, until Jennifer came along and made our talks less. "Where's Jennifer Jones ?", Kendall asked, "I don't know, I haven't seen her.", I admitted, "Right here ladies.", Jennifer popped up next to me, I saw Luke looking at me from next to the bar, "Calm down.", he mouthed the words to me, I nodded lightly, "Its so good to see you Jennifer.", "How are you Jennifer ?", "We missed you so much.", the usual greets, "Well I didn't expect to see you here Rebecca.", Jennifer said, "Wouldn't miss it.", I told her. Her presence just ruined the mood.

After 2 hours of reuniting with old friends, I was getting bored, so I sat in the Great Hall and Luke followed me later. We sat in silence for a while, until he broke it, "You remember the water slide I made on the last day of Sophomore year ?", he asked, "Best day ever.", I smiled, he chuckled, "You almost fell off during one slide and I caught you.", I reminded, "You were pretty strong for a girl who was too skinny to lift 3kgs.", he laughed, I smiled, "I made it easier for you, you slid down in mid air.", I reminded him, he laughed even louder. "Junior year prom, you spilled soda on my favorite dress.", I took out another memory, he burst out laughing, his laugh echoed through the place, that was adorable, "You chased me for 15 solid minutes in heels, around the corridors. You know I was going to be more afraid than cheerful because you ran so fast in heels and a long dress it was scary.", he told me, I burst out into laughter this time, "You better have.", I told him, he chuckled. "Too bad I wasn't there for Senior year.", he said, "Its okay, I took care of it.", I told him, "What did you do ?", he asked, "Jane, Jennifer, Kendall, Lilly, me, Kyle, and Christian pulled an All-Time-Teachers prank.", I told him, "Speak.", he demanded with a smile, "On graduation day, we came early in the morning and redecorated the whole school, the cafeteria, the teachers' lounges, the classes, everything. We made it look so horrific the teachers thought it was the end of the world.", I told him, "This is pure evil.", he chuckled, "Your pranks and fun times had a big influence on me, I got in trouble 3 times in Senior year because I was rebelling.", I said, "The student beats the teacher.", he smiled, "Those were good days Rebs.", he told me, "Yea, they were.", I smiled.

We went back home, Luke was staying with us in Race's old room and right now he was upstairs with Raiden playing some video games. I was in the living room sitting by the fire and drinking my mom's amazing hot chocolate, she took a seat next to me on the couch, "Is it him ?", she asked, "What do you mean ?", I asked, "Is it Lucas that confessed his love for you ?", she had a warm smile, "How did you know ?", I asked, "I saw how he looked at you during lunch time and after you came back. He really likes you.", she concluded, "Yea, well, I don't know if its going to work.", I told her, "Are you even trying Rebecca ?", she asked, "Well, not exactly, I asked him to hint at me how it feels, like with gestures and words, its feels weird.", I admitted, "You'll get the hang of it darling, its all worth it, and he's a nice guy himself.", she told me, "Don't give up Rebecca.", she hugged me and kissed my forehead and then went to sleep.

Maybe she's right, maybe giving him a try won't hurt. He is sweet after all, and gentle, and nice, okay I'm taking it too far for me. Hopefully I'll get the hang of it like my mom said, I can only hope.
