Pink + Yellow = Red

This is a future timeline, happening ten years after the main one (they're in their thirties during this oneshot).

---------------------

The soft rays of the silver moon were piercing the windows of the living room, dispersing themselves in a dimmed ghostly powder through the curtains, giving the place an almost supernatural appearance. It was also the only source of light there as the whole apartment was plunged into the night's black darkness.

The colorful and living furniture at the time of the day were now nothing more than strange shadows across the space and all signs of life seemed to have been stopped by the powerful laws of time. Everything around was remaining chill and calm, in a quiet yet peaceful atmosphere.

Unlike many other inkfish that were enjoying the cozyness of sleep and dreams in this ideal ambiance, Daisuke was perfectly awake, and probably one of the few out there to still be at this hour. That sure was very unusual for him since he always liked to sleep a lot, but tonight he couldn't manage to stay in bed as it was evading him.

Daisuke was currently sitting on the couch, wrapped in a big fluffy blanket, carefully holding close to him something in his arms that was the reason he wasn't in bed. He kept staring at it, not able to take his eyes off of it, his hands protecting it like a shield against the outside world.

It had a perfectly oval shape, with a smooth and bright surface of a deep bloody red color, passing through some shades of dark faded blue at the top of the shell. The white light was emphasizing it like erupting lava just coming out of a fiery volcano, turning it into an hypnotizing blaze.

An egg. A soon newborn little squid. A future child.

This idea had been in Daisuke's head for quite a while by now but he never thought it would really happen, and especially so quickly. He still had some difficulties realizing it... When he finally told Ray about it one month ago, he wouldn't imagine he would be here right now, at this moment.

But yet here he was, having on his lap the one that will be his kid, becoming a father in the process with Ray, the love of his life, after being married for three years. And he couldn't wait to spend the rest of his existence with his two most loved ones.

To be honest though, he didn't think it would be that easy. As soon as he knew Ray actually had the same thing in mind, they looked for a way to get an egg. A lot of their friends immediately gave them advice and not going to lie, they helped them during the entire thing too, Rayaïté specifically.

Thanks to their friends, family and above all obstinacy, they finally succeeded. Even if it was complicated and they kind of struggled sometimes during the entire process, it was worth it in the end now that they made it nevertheless.

Moreover, they had the chance that their child will be their biological one with their two dna combined, no matter if that was even possible. Eggs were still a mystery to this day and life could be very surprising... (Not to mention Rayaïté surely played a mysterious part in this too but they're a god so we don't talk about it).

However, despite being excited at the idea of getting an egg, Daisuke was totally terrified at the beginning when they first saw it and later brought it home. And it was understandable. Becoming parents was a whole adventure and he wasn't the only one, Ray was a nervous wreck too.

They were both confused indeed when they saw the egg's color being red while they were pink and yellow, until they learned that their two ink colors mixed together gave in fact, red and felt like complete idiots. But it was fine, after all it happened to everyone to make mistakes.

Although that was something easy to move on, the same couldn't be said for the rest. Daisuke was still nervous as hell. Ray managed to get over it pretty quickly but for Daisuke, it was a bit more of a challenge let's say.
