"Ray ! C'mere for a sec would ya !"

Ray's ears pricked up upon hearing his name and he poked his head out of the couch, glancing at the hallway. He then stopped playing with his favorite ball to dash his way into the entrance to meet Sunny.

There, he found the human just in front of the door, ready to go get groceries. Ray obediently sat next to him, wondering what Sunny had to tell him and waited patiently. Sunny noticed him and smiled, crouching to better look at him, stroking Ray's little head in the process.

"Imma be out for a while so you'll have the apartment for yerself, and I left somethin' in the kitchen for ya if you're hungry." He told him. "Just, don't do anythin' stupid. I ain't in the mood to clean any mess tonight but yer a good boy and I'm sure I can count on ya, right ?"

Ray nodded and Sunny smirked, knowing he could trust him after all. He got up, packed his last things and checked the time on his phone. Sunny grimaced seeing it and sighed while taking his keys, coming back to Ray.

"I'll try to be back at 7 : PM or some shit like that I dunno, might take a while... Anyways have fun dude, see ya !"

Without losing any more precious minutes, Sunny waved at Ray and left him alone, closing the door behind him. Ray meowed as if to wish him a good ride and stayed a few minutes here after he disappeared, staring, deep in thought about what he should do.

When he was done thinking, Ray headed to the kitchen to see what Sunny gave him and was pleased to find a nice looking piece of meat just for him that seemed absolutely delicious. Sunny sure knew his tastes.

Ray decided to keep it for later though, he wasn't really hungry, and he liked the idea of sharing it with someone in particular. Right now, he wanted some fresh air, peace, and quiet to spend the next hours chilling on his own, with nothing specific to do in mind.

The balcony seemed like a good if not the perfect place for that, especially with the temperature and atmosphere of late spring. That's why he went to comfortably settle down on the outside bench full of soft pillows and cushions.

Ray simply enjoyed the breeze of the wind caressing his fur, closing his eyes to relax a bit more. It was really ideal... Honestly, he probably could stay like that for the entire afternoon, but only one thing was missing. Company, and not just any.

Fortunately for him, Ray was about to have a nice surprise in this regard. In fact, he didn't have to wait much longer for it, because what he didn't notice was the presence of another cat in the shadows, who just sneaked on the balcony looking for him.

The visitor swiftly descended from the railing, unable to resist the desire to be by his side anymore, and discreetly approached him without a sound, not wanting to wake him up if he was asleep. Ray's eyes shut right open when he heard claws that weren't his scratching against the fabric and turned his head to meet a more than familiar face.

"Boo."

"Hi Dai." Ray chuckled.

"Hey Sunshine." Daisuke teased, nuzzling him with his muzzle. "Hope I didn't scare you right there."

"Nah, you'd never. I love you too much for that."

"Aw, I love you too."

Glad to sense his gentle touch and comforting smell after so long, Ray immediately returned the gesture, sharing the same envy. Daisuke sat down right next to him, leaning in close, intertwining their tails together. Ray snuggled up more against him and buried his face in Daisuke's fur, while he rested his head on his.

"I missed you." Ray softly confessed. "It's been a hot minute since I last saw you."

"Oh don't tell me. I'd have come sooner if I could, believe me. But there has been some shit happening in the streets lately..." Daisuke sighed, rolling his eyes. "I preferred staying careful to not accidentally put you in danger, it can quickly go down in there. But damn, it was hard to not be with you."

"It's fine, I understand. You came back anyway."

"Yeah, I'm just glad I was able to meet you again. Man, being with you really is something I need."

Ray hummed in agreement, knowing very well what he was talking about because he felt exactly the same. And nothing will prevent him from catching up with Daisuke by spending all the time he wanted with him today. Daisuke layed a sweet peck on his forehead, having a similar idea in mind, and it made Ray huff a laugh due to its ticklishness.

"What I'm sure of is that I could never get tired of your cuddles."

"Well, enough talking then. Time to give you some attention."

Daisuke started to lick Ray's ears, who dropped out of contentment, soon followed by his tail slowly wagging. The repeated tongue strokes relaxed him and Ray closed his eyes, willing to take a small nap in his loved one's embrace. A single purr escaped Daisuke at the sight of his boyfriend, warm as the sun.

"You're cute when you're sleepy."
