"What's taking him so long..."
Daisuke looked at the time on his phone and let out a small exasperated sigh while tapping his foot impatiently, arms crossed and back laying on a wall. He made an appointment with Ray at the top of Splateville's balcony and he was waiting for him for a few minutes, but there was no sign of him.
Not surprising though, punctuality was something very random with Ray, even at the skatepark with the chads. Daisuke should have expected that. Anyways, he just hoped his boss wouldn't annoy him too much if he spent a little more time than planned at this rendez-vous before going to the bubble tea shop for his service later in the afternoon...
Daisuke took this opportunity to make sure he still had what he brought in his pocket and pulled it out to glance at it. Of course, he wanted to meet Ray after not being able to during the last days. However, it was implying something else. Because if Daisuke asked Ray to come here it was for a specific reason.
They've been dating for several weeks now and everyday knowing he loved him was nothing but pure happiness, Daisuke never thought he could be this happy and filled with bliss to have Ray by his side. And to think it all started by them awkwardly confessing their feelings to each other at Flounder Heights...
Daisuke shook his head, a slight yellow blush on his face, heart full of feelings he had no idea he could have, yet here he was. And for nothing in the world he'd want them to disappear or even fade away. It was reciprocated, and Ray apparently found a new way to express it lately, by offering him gifts.
It just seemed like he was enjoying giving him these little forms of attention and affection recently. Whatever the reason, Daisuke really appreciated them as it meant a lot for him, his favorite so far being a gold necklace with a bubble tea charm he was wearing at this very moment. He had to admit, Ray did have the eye for this one.
That was why Daisuke wanted to return the favor of some sort, by giving Ray a gift too. But not just any of course. It had to be special or at least mark the occasion, so Daisuke really didn't count on that one. It was perfectly fine though, if it was for Ray then it'll be worth it in the end anyway.
Suddenly, Daisuke heard footsteps coming from the stairs and it didn't take him long to recognize the person. Ray stopped to catch his breath, probably because of the run he just did to go all the way up here. Daisuke quickly put away the said gift before Ray noticed it and greeted him for his splendid delay.
"Finally decided to show up huh ?"
"Sorry to... Keep you... Waiting." He huffed between two breaths, slowly regaining an approximately normal breathing at last. "I got stuck in a convo with Jamal and Takeru, talking about bi stuff."
"You're still late idiot, but you have a good excuse so I guess I can allow it. Just this once."
"Missed me this badly ?" Ray teased, joining him.
Daisuke smirked and playfully put his boyfriend's cap back in place. "And what if I did ?"
"We can make it up."
Ray spread his arms with a smile and a little eyebrow raised, inviting Daisuke for a hug. Daisuke falsely rolled his eyes but didn't waste any more time to take the offered opportunity. He approached him closer and tightly hugged Ray in return as he gently rubbed his back.
Ray nuzzled his face in Daisuke's shoulder and his ears started wiggling when he felt the weight of his head resting on his own. After a few instants staying in each other's embrace, Daisuke couldn't resist planting a kiss on his temple, to which Ray huffed a small giggle of his own.
"What got you laughing like that ?" Daisuke glanced at him with a bit of a questioning gaze.
"Oh, nothing." Ray shrugged slightly. "If I'd known you'd show me all this affection just because we haven't seen each other in private for the last three days I'd have definitely come sooner."
