Ray is a vampire while Daisuke is half-werefish but monster nature can cause some problems...
---------------------
Blegh, bitter coffee.
Daisuke sipped the last bit of his cup, a slight expression of disgust on his face before putting it in the dishwasher. Unlike many others he didn't like coffee, but drank it anyway because it was a good way to wake up in the morning since he had difficulties doing so. Bubble tea unfortunately didn't have this effect, that was why he forced himself to deal with this black suspicious liquid.
Jayden had proposed to the entire chad squad to meet today to play some matches. And when he said 'a few' games, he meant to play all the modes that could be found in the lobby at least once and continue until winning them all, which could take quite a while. Especially with someone as stubborn as Jayden.
They had made an appointment very early so Daisuke wanted to be as ready for this as possible, hence the coffee. He was a little rusty since it's been a while since he played, so caffeine was more than necessary. It was only in the morning, but he probably wouldn't be back until late afternoon due to suffering from at least twenty games in a row.
This put apart, Daisuke was thrilled to be able to spend time with his mates again. The situation in Splatville was rather tense lately with all the troubles caused by the Kensa Clan but now that it had finally calmed down, things came back to normal. Meaning that he could use his splatana stamper for something other than chasing bad guys in alleyways...
Daisuke went out of the kitchen, taking his trusty cap on the table to put it on and looked for his keys before leaving. Then he heard footsteps behind him and turned around to see Ray, just coming out of their shared room. He was wearing his black worn-out hoodie (the one Daisuke liked to steal) and his hair was loose on his shoulders. Ray rubbed his eyes, showing that he had just woken up.
"Morning."
"Mornin' Manta." Daisuke greeted him with a kiss on the forehead. "How did you sleep ?"
"Not great." Ray said, returning the gesture the best he could. "Don't think I'd call it a sleep..."
Daisuke raised an eyebrow and took a closer look at Ray. He was actually looking dead tired, which was surprising because it rarely happened to him. Daisuke gently pulled a lock away from Ray's face, looking more closely at the unusual dark circles under his eyes. His complexion was also strangely paler, which worried his boyfriend greatly.
"Are you sick or something ?"
"I don't think so...? Probably just the lack of sleep." Ray shrugged.
This didn't really convince Daisuke who had a strange feeling of déjà vu for some reason. He then took Ray's chin between his fingers to check him one last time and suddenly noticed that his fangs were unusually sharper, like a... Vampire. Daisuke's eyes when he understood what was going on with Ray, and it was certainly not due to the lack of sleep.
"Now I see what it is..."
"Hm ?"
"When was the last time you drank ink ?" Daisuke asked right ahead.
Ray tilted his head, confused by the question at first but his eyes widened as well when he properly realized how long it had been. He tried to dodge the issue by avoiding eye contact with Daisuke, still nervously scratching the back of his neck.
"C'mon, I'm sure it's not that big of a deal..." Ray chuckled anxiously.
It wasn't satisfying Daisuke as an answer and the gaze he gave him clearly left no room for discussion. Besides, who knew how difficult it was to avoid eye contact when the person you're trying not to look at is right in front of you...
