I suddenly jolt conscious to the force of everything coming to an abrupt stop, my body flying forward into the headboard of the car. I gasp as the open glove box winds me, throwing myself back into my seat. I breathe heavily, glancing over to Ceasar who's panicking.
"Shit! Y/N, that was a person!" I've never seen him so frightened and guilty.
I let out an impetuous gulp, watching his eyes well up.
"What?" I glanced over at the empty space in front of the car. I cautiously open the door and go to take a look. There's a human laying on the floor.
"Holy shit!" My jaw drops as I crouch down beside the fallen lady. My brother steps out of the car, getting a closer look. I watch her twitch.
"Hey, look, she's moving..." I mumble, pointing to her twitching nerves. Her head slowly rises. I reach my hand out comfortingly.
"Hello? Miss? Are you o-" I let out a blood-curdling scream and scramble away backwards into the pavement. That's not a human, that's not a fucking human!
"Get back in the car! Now!" I yell, climbing into the passenger seat and slamming the car door behind me without hesitation.
Ceasar, oblivious, notices my panicked expression and swiftly plops down into the drivers seat.
"What's wr-"
"Drive! Drive!"
"I'm not going to hit and run! What do you think I am, crazy!?"
"Ceasar, trus-"
"What the fuck is that!" He yells, as the thing stands up. He immediately steps on the peddle, crushing it beneath the weight of the rubber wheels and speeding away.
I whimper, trying to regulate my breathing.
"That wasn't a person... it... it can't have been."
We sit in silence for a little while. I pull out my diary from the glovebox, feeling the need to write an entry.
Tuesday 29th September, 1998
I need to put this into words somehow. I just woke up after a long ass nap to Ceasar smacking some sort of demon with his car!? I got close to it. I touched it. I placed my hand on it's shoulder.
It began to move, and I thought she was a human. I had a glimmer of hope as she turned her head towards me, but I get met with... well, I don't know.
Her hair was thin and partially fallen out, one of her eyes were bulging out of her skull while the other had a chunk missing. Her nose was partially disintegrated, the whole septum missing. The side of her cheek was just... gone. All of her brown teeth were on show, and she- it- looked at me as if I were some sort of gourmet meal.
The look in it's eyes. I've never seen something with such desire for my flesh. And God, she smelled. She smelled like rotting flesh- or at least what I'd imagine rotting flesh to smell like.
I hope it was a one off. I think Ceasar killed it with the car...
And now I have time to think, I had a weird dream. Someone was telling me to 'turn around'. 'This is a bad idea', they said. Is this just a coincidence?
From Y/N. Hopes in advance.
I slide my diary back into my bag in the glove box, leaning back into my leather seat. I close my eyes for a moment and then glance over to Ceasar. I wipe his tears with my sleeve.
"It's okay." I whisper, sympathetically.
"I just killed someone." He mumbles.
"She- it was already dead."
